This is a sure-fire fireworks display. I've always thought this would mesh well given the styles, but I say Pryor gets off to a fast start before Duran's precision and defense start to prove the difference.

The gap separates further the longer it goes, and it goes the distance: Duran W15

I go back and forth on this fight. If Pryor uses his speed I pick Pryor. but he might go to war which would work into Duran's hands. Pryor's best fight is Arguello obviously, whom he had a size advantage and age advantage over. But against Duran the size and age thing which be neutralized by Duran's style. If Pryor could box and use his speed then he could outbox Duran, but I am thinking he would try and slug with Duran.

Are you serious? Unless his name was Hearns no one KOs Duran at WW or lower. I tend to think that if Pryor slugs with Duran he's in for a beating especially towards the later rounds.

A brutal war of attrition in which neither man backs one inch. Pryor will push Duran to the limit, but Roberto's defensive abilities see him edge it on points.

Duran UD in 12 or 15. Roberto matched Pryor for aggression, and had more overall skill.

Could go either way . Probably goes the distance. If i had to stick my neck out and make a pick Duran close UD over 12 wider UD over 15. Then again Pryor could box, this would spice things up.

I'm guessing this at 140 lbs.

Suprisingly, not Roberto Durans best weight level.
    Why,,,,,I have no reason.
It should have been a great weight for Roberto.
Both Antonio Cervantes and Saensak Muangsurin were right there.

Aaron Pryor, very under-rated defensively, and had remarkable recuperative
    powers.

Impossible to pick a winner at 140 lbs.

The "Irrisistable Force vs The Immovable Object Paradox"?:think Nah:bart

Duran is the superior & more complete boxer of the two & the way Duran had no problem man-handing Leonard & beating him from post to post then it don't bode well for Pryor.

I see this as a bit of a chess match early on for about 3/4 rounds but with Durans slicker defence & angle of attack especially speed of countering (Which ****ed Leonard up big time) is going to open up wide cracks in Pryor's defence who IMO will toe 2 toe it with Duran & he's going to get systematicly demolished as Duran is just as fast as Pryor & don't need no black bottle boost for Stamina when the going gets tough.

This ai'nt going to be 15 rounds of mayhem it'll be done by 10/12 at the latest. Duran's defence is far far superior to that of Pryors & he's just the all round better boxer. Aaron Pryor is tailor-made for Roberto Duran:deal

Duran is much more technically sound, if this does go into a war, I'd expect Duran to sharpshoot Pryor to smitherines with accurate counters and well placed leads, in a war but a clear decision win.

Too many 140 lb. fighters went 10 Rounds with Roberto Duran,
so a Knock-out does not play in the cards.

And, Aaron Pryor was capable of changing his style from bomber, to boxer
    without much problem.

Too hard to pick at 140 lbs.

It's funny why you say that because Duran is considered the best LW ever and went up WW to beat arguably the second best WW ever. So, I don't see a reason why he won't be performing his best at 140 also. This thread was irrespective of weight class. They were both around the same weight.

    Sugar Man,

Just what title did Roberto Duran win at 140 lbs. (Light Welterweight).

I love Roberto, and would defintely put him as one of the Top 3 at 135 lbs.
I wish he stayed at 140 lbs. for awhile in mid-1978 or early-1979, and picked up one of the Titles.
Damn, he could have grabbed that title in 1975/1976 if he wanted to.
