By your logic Cotto ducked him. After Mayweather fought Hatton, he was the universally recognized p4p#1 and the cash king. Cotto was the lesser recognized fighter it was his job to try and reach out to get the fight with mayweather yet you never heard a word from him or anybody in his camp about trying to fight Mayweather, yet somehow Mayweather ducked some nonexistent offer to fight him.:patsch

    Check the time line

Floyd beats Oscar May 5, 2007
Paul Williams beats Margarito July 14, 2007
Cotto beats Mosley November 10, 2007
Floyd beats Hatton December 8, 2007
Quitana beats Williams February 9, 2008
Margarito beats Cotto July 26, 2008
Mosley beats Margarito January 24, 2009

Now look at this and tell me who should have Floyd fought and when.

Judah was giving Cotto all he could handle until Cotto low blowed him like 10 times. Any Judah was to small for Cotto and Clottey and even Baldomir. These guys were coming in the ring around 160. Judah did have the talent and style to beat Mayweather though since Mayweather wouldn't come in the ring at 160.

Cotto had his chance after Brucless and Gatti but denied both. Its also up to those guys to make Mayweather want to fight them by making great offers. Margarito made a good offer of 8mil but Baldomir offer'd more with his belts. Also I don't think he thought Baldo and Margo were that much different from each other.

And again Cotto was set to fight Margo and DLH. Mayweather weren't in Arums plans for a little while.

Its also not Mayweather's fault that it took less then 2 yrs for Cotto and Margo to become washed up at the ages of 28.

I like Floyd but except for those flukish Oscar stoppages and his ancient Tszyu thing JCC was very rarely even rocked in his prime. He was knocked down by Randall and for that fight he trained by drinking tequila and not eating and still made it through the fight pretty easy, just didn't win.
The best Floyd can hope for is a fairly easy UD win with his speed, depending on how shady the judges are if they are in kings pocket. Baldomir and Castillo would have been easier to tko, I think.

Oh yeah, Margarito doesn't have the speed and skill to effectively pressure the much wilier and elusive Floyd. he would have to get really lucky to win a few rounds in this one.

What made Williams the best comp though? He had one quality win vs Margarito who he was chasing for a long time.

Hatton had wins over Tzyu, Castillo, Urango, Collazo(though questionable)

You're just saying **** because you don't like Mayweather. Was there any public demand for a Mayweather-Williams fight? Was HBO trying to put that fight together? And too bad Williams lost his title anyway to the great quintana 2months after Mayweather Hatton. I guess next you're gonna say Floyd ducked quintana. Come on bro.

You are wrong...I do not dislike mayweather I actually think he is very talented but I dislike the fact that his resume is thin has a million excuses for not fighting the "BIG" names during his prime and has probably only been tested once or twice yet people are willing to put him up in the ATG rankings while all the other elite fighters in his division fought eachother !!!

Its simple...he is a great boxer but untested, a ww version of rjj...do i even wana talk about how badly DLH wanted a rematch and that didnt happened

There are no excuses needed when you have a resume consisting of numerous worlds champions, HOF's. A a bum like Margo, and a solid but overrated Cotto aren't necessary, especially when their promoter Bob Arum doesn't do fair business. Its as simple as that.

They are Bums and overrated based on what???they didnt protect their "0" that just shows how much of a floyd fan you are and how much of a boxing fan you are not...every other elite fighter in history managed to match up against stiffer comp. no one else in boxing has done a "floyd"

No margo is a bum because he had no skills. He didn't fight anyone of note except the guys that raped him.
