why don't we just carry on till one of them dies if there's nothing to separate them pathetic thread, draws are part and parcel of the sport
First off, thanks to all for their input and views... very interesting and knowledgeable responses. secondly, this was just a hypothetical question, I'm not gonna lobby any boxing commission or anything... it was just something that struck me when discussing the Mexico vs. U.S. soccer match with some guys at work... I thought it would make a good thread and attract intelligent views.. as it mostly did... I like to start discussion that haven't been done 1000 times before...
Draws don't happen often enough to be a real concern. However I think in championship fights there should be 3 extra overtime rounds. 12 + 3 = 15. After the 3 after the 3 extra rounds if it is still a draw than the draw should stand.
I think more fights should end in draws. The 10 Point must system is a JOKE! Mo one has ever had a 5 point round let alone a 1. So why have it. Plus without it it would be easier to see who's been paid off. If a fight is close it should be a draw.
Draws are just horrible in my opinion. When I watch a FIGHT I expect to see a winner. Whether the draw happens in a technical boxing match or a full out balls to the walls brawl, I still would like to have it written on paper. I expect instant replays for the judges would be a huge help in determining the true winner in the case of draws.
I dont have a problem with draws sometimes fights are so even that they could end up a draw but end in a md or sd which results in a lot of controversy, a draw is annoying but sometimes its necesary. I had williams vs martinez 1 a draw.
Draws are part of the sport, they're gonna stay. My biggest problem with draws, however, is that pretty much all of the draws I can think of off the top of my head, I disgree with quite strongly.
There are some fights where you clearly cannot pick a winner but draws are used in a corruptive fashion waaaaay too much.
There should actually be score more rounds as draws because it makes more sense than flipping a coin. If a fight ends in a draw rather than bitching about it, why not make it a mandatory rematch.
Draws have been around since the beginning, I hate them as a fan cause it always seems a let down but there are definitely fights too close to call and warrant a draw
