To tell you the truth, my only concern with Solis is his weight, I know he is a better boxer than VK, and if he really wants it.

Yes I know, I have really high hopes that his hard training in Germany pays off and he comes in between 246 to 248 or so. Vitaly will go down either way!

His name is Yoandris “El Niño” Salinas (5-0, 2 KOs) and he has a message for his opponents: He will be ready to claim a world title by 2012.

Normally that would seem preposterous for a fighter with only 5 pro fights.
Salinas fought almost 300 times as an amateur; earning a silver medal in the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games. He followed this with a bronze medal in the 2007 Pan American Games. His natural talent allowed him to bypass the preliminary level of Cuban sports training and head directly from the streets into the esteemed ESPA. (Escuelas Superior de Perfeccionamiento Atlético- a secondary school for the nation’s top athletes.)

Salinas recently signed with Dream Team Boxing and looks to maintain a busy work rate by fighting 10 times this year. His recent reunion with original Cuban coach Ismael Salas and scheduled participation in the WBA’s “KO to Drugs” fight series position him to rise rapidly in the world ratings.

I could be wrong but I think there's a mistake in this article. Salinas' original coach was Osmiri Fernandez. Then for his 2nd & 3rd fights he went to Ismael Salas. Just recently though Salinas' is back with Osmiri again for his last 2 fights. . . Again I could be wrong but it wouldn't make sense saying Salas was his original Coach, Osmiri was the first one to have Salinas' when he came to the US, and worked his corner for his Pro Debut.

Yeah Salinas scored a 1rst Round KO just 6 days ago with Osmiri. Doesn't make any sense to me why he'd leave.

My first time to notice this thread and I say, just imagine if all the fighters from Cuba who wanted to go pro were allowed to go pro. Man, that would be awesome. Imagine if Teofinlo Stevenson was allowed to fight Ali. Damn, so many good fighters who can't go pro.

I like Franco, he is still young, fast, powerful and has over 300 amateur bouts in Cuba. The kid can definitely be a World Champion but I am afraid that he will always be overshadowed by Gamboa and Rigo... :?

Congratulations to him for beating a 32-2-30ko fighter in just his 8th pro fight, that's the way to go. :good
