when john conteh and randy turpin were training for their respective title shots their sparring partners were on double and triple wages and earned it.
    neither took prisoners.

No excuses for Ingo,,,,but this was his 'first' day in starting to train for his
March 13, 1961 bout with Floyd Patterson.

The guy was 220+ lbs. and pretty much a good 20+ lbs. over his prime
    fighting weight.

Yeah, and a young quick pro making him look sluggish is not really exceptional. If it had been just another fighter it would of course have been forgotten long ago.

Just like this little punk making fun of a great champion:D:

Just who was that quick little Panamanian......????

Of course, one young Eddie Brooks did the same thing to one Muhammad Ali in
    1970.
Made him look like a fool in the ring, sparring.

Where was Gil Rogin that day,,,,,,,,,,probably at McSorley's Ale House.

I would never put much validity in any sparring session, or reporting of such, from
any sportswriter, fight promoter, fight publicist, manager, trainer, etc...
    It's nothing more than a work-out session.

    Especially one that is filmed,,,,,,,

I think it was in Remnicks book I read that Ingemars peoples were trying to down play the sparring session to which he said "I got my ass kicked."

    Not that it matters,

But, 21-year old, 6' 1" 175 lb. Miami Beach Light Heavyweight, Otha Brown was the one who gave INGO the fits.

Brown was a hot undefeated prospect (11-0-2), with super quick hands.
Not big on the punch, but fast.

Also went 5-minutes with INGO, and Johansson never hit him.
But again, it means nothing, as INGO was working on sharpening his skills, not trying to Blast one of the young guys out.

On the good fighters who sparred with Ali during his exile.
Besides Jimmy Ellis,,,,,,,,,,Mel Turnbow in 1968

    Great A,,,,

    Nice add on.

I have the whole 5+ minutes sparring session on tape, along with
5+ minutes with Otha Brown, and 17+ minutes with Finland Light Heavy Pekka Kokkonen.
