Bute takes the easy option once again. hey Sportsleader, throw me some names available you genius.....
Stieglitz - WBO champion Jean Paul Mendy - IBF number 1. Beat Bika for shot. Andrade Sartison - WBA Champion. Marcus Johnson Bika Are all better opponents than Brian Magee.
Stieglitz refused 3 offers. Bute already Andrade twice, Bika once. Jean-Paul Mendy is by far a weaker opponent than Magee. He got the win by disqualification while he was being beaten badly. Sartison refused an offer. That leaves Marcus Johnson, which was not on Showtime list. So, who else could Bute have fought? Yo still have found nobody. Waiting. You are talking a lot for someone that ignorant of what's happening in the division.
I don't put you in the haters category at all. Doubters are ok with me. Look at Malibua and fatcity, they are haters. Denying Bute any talent, calling bums fighter that were in the top 10 when Bute fought them, etc. The main reason they are hating is to protect their favourite fighter. You are objective and I agree on all you said in your post.
Stieglitz had more than 2 offers last 1 made before they signed Magee. Bute's promoter Interbox offered Stieglitz's team 500,000$ and all the German Tv rights. Thinking that the Romanian Tv rights for Bute-Miranda have been 116,000€ (150,000$) and for Bute-Brinkley 100,000€(130,000$), not knowing at what prices the German Tv channels are buying the Tv Airing rights for Stieglitz's fights , and considering that this is a big unification bout I'm gonna assume the minimum is to be around 200,000$ leading to a final sum of 700,000$. He turned it down. Sartison Offer was of 400,000 $ and Tv rights. He turn it down Andrade was beat by Bute Twice. Marcus Johnson is virtually unknown and I don't believe he is better than a top 10 fighter like Magee ( remember when they signed the fight he was ranked #1 WBA,#2 WBC and #8 IBF ) Bika was already beat by Bute via UD and was a puzzle for him only in the first 3-4 rounds. Mendy was KTFO by Bika in 1 round. You're saying that Mendy is better than Magee because he was ranked #1 by the IBF but you discredit Magee who was #1 WBA , it's kind of dumb. The big difference between them is that Mendy has looked like a bum against Bika winning by DQ getting Ko'ed in the process and Magee won his last 10 fights.
Jean Paul Mendy is Bute's mandatory challenger. He is IBF number 1 and he beat Bika whether you like it or not. Not on Showtimes list? Why? He is undefeated, and on the cusp of challenging for a title. He is a better opponent than Magee. Bute should not let Showtime run his life. So what if Bute beat Andrade? He's better than Magee and would welcome a paycheck against Bute. Same applied with Bika. Both would be eager to face Bute no doubt, and both are light years ahead of Magee. Sartison is a champion. What did Bute offer him? Where are the details of this offer? Andrade, Bika, Johnson. All better than Magee. Honestly, alliegences aside. Do you honestly think this is a good fight for Bute? Honestly. Do you think Magee will pose a challenge for Bute? Do you think he has earned his shot at the title? Is this a fight you would pay to see? And Mendy has never been 'KTFO' by Bika. He has a win over Bika. Check boxrec if you don't believe me. I don't think so.
SportsLeader, do you smoke a lot, I mean a lot of weed? Memory issues at all? http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277236
I smoke a fair bit, TBH. Anyway. Bute should be fighting Jean Paul Mendy if not anyone else, and that is the bottom line. IBF number 1, beat Sakio Bika for a shot at the title, and so deserves to face Bute. Brian Magee has beaten...............nobody, is past his prime by 5 years, and is of not threat to Bute in any way. Like it or not, Bute should be fighting his mandatory challenger, and that is Jean Paul Mendy. End of discussion.
I won't pay for Bute-Magee. Magee will lose for sure and is not a good enought opponent for Bute. The rest you say is bull****. If you really think that Mendy is a good opponent, you're a ****** and know nothing about boxing. End of discussion.
You know how networks dictate the game, come on. If Magee is all Showtime could get and thought was marketable, Interbox don't have a whole lot to say... they only advise the big guns at Showtime on who's available, and what the circumstances are. Mendy would get murdered, yes murdered against Bute. Worst mismatch at 168 in, possibly, a decade.
Bute would slaughter Mendy no doubt, but he's going to slaughter Magee aswell. The difference is, Mendy is IBF number 1 challenger. He may have been getting battered against Bika, but he won. And that is enough to earn his shot. Magee has done nothing to earn his shot. Mendy is french, Bute fights out of Montreal. Who couldn't promote frenchy vs frenchy? Surely that would be easier than Bute vs obscure, past it, Irishman? I just think that if Bute tried a little harder, and actually chose the more practical fights, he would get more respect.
I seriously don't think Bute would get "more respect" if he fought Mendy. Interbox already dissed Mendy's boxing ability in the media. Martinez let HBO dictate the game and is fighting Dzin, where as...... Bute should tell Showtime, who's paying something like $2M for the fight, to **** off and listen to motherhood IBF?!?? Martinez got 'elevated' to another level by the WBC, and I can't see the IBF doing the same -- Bute is getting stripped late Spring / early Summer. Showtime however promised him a shot, if not multiple shots at the best in the division. Thinking Bute will NOT fight opponents that would get him respect, all that with Showtime for big money, is plain wrong. Big years ahead. Don't forget Kessler-Bute was Showtime's idea for March.
