Their decision to secure Wlad-Chisora was a wise one. It lessens the risk of Wlad taking his Haye-fight over to Showtime. But yes, HBO is beginning to suck. Showtime are making some great moves, and I wish them all the luck in shifting the tide. They deserve it.
the thing that kills HBO is there announcers. they suck . but really there both good networks . and i like showtime because they show good prospects.
I have both so i just choose which fight to watch when both have a fight on the same night. The good thing is showtime usually have their fight earlier than hbo so i can watch the main event of each fight.
When you said one big fight is not bad business. I think you have not checked the schedule yet. Top rank has many fights in the next weeks or months. They have on february this new kid named Marroquin, also Rios is on the card. Cotto vs Mayorga on March 12 Juan Ma vs Salido on April 16 Pac vs Mosley on May. of course thats PPV Thats only the beggining. He couldnt cancel the Gamboa fight on HBO because it was already signed.
Last year they improved so much. they had great fights plus the super six, now they have the other tournament in the lower weights and now Arum doing this move. GBP better have some good events otherwise HBO boxing is going down
It's actually a lot of fights on both networks. HBO after Alexander-Headley they had a preview for the next 2 months which looks really good. I think a Boxing fan should just ignore the promotion fight and sign up for both, who cares about the drama let them deal with that while we enjoy the benefits of having showtime increase boxing fans. You know whats funny though ARUM set up the fight between donaire and montiel, he convinced HBO to put it on BOxing after dark, this may have actually saved HBO if it comes out to be a huge fight lol....
I love all the "JUST PAY FOR BOTH" responses. Not everyone can afford to pay for both. Actually, probably most of us can't afford to pay for both and some of us do it anyway. Where the **** have you been the last 3 years? Get your heads out of your asses. This is coming from someone fortunate enough to have both but I agree with the OP, if a choice had to be made I'd cancel HBO. I prefer Showtime's programming, anyway.
I will keep both if they have good fights. This is not about the money. For example on september and october I cancelled both because there were no fights at all. Right now I have HBO but after the Gamboa fight, there are no more fighs schedule and thats why I am cancelling. There is one more Khan fight but I am not to interested in him.:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke
If you've any interest in MMA I'd recommend getting Showtime ASAP as Strikeforce have a number o big shows coming up over the next couple of months starting next weekend.
Nobody knows who is who. It's still fun to watch (when they aren't grappling for the entirety of a fight).
I'm wiht you brother. F*** HBO and Al Haymon garrbage set ups for Berto, Floyd and GOlden Boy bxoers.
