His legs are seriously thin for a fighter...can't think of anybody with a lower body that slender. And he isn't as broad chested as Griffin. So I think that's how he makes weight. But yeah it must be difficult...I heard a rumor that he's stopped virtually all heavy lifting to not build too much muscle. He's gotta move up at some point you'd think...him vs Velasquez would be sick.

    Is this a bad joke?

How the hell is a guy with wins over unproven Bader, old Bonnar, crap Vera and ancient Matyushenko as well as a DQ loss to Matt Hamill even a top 50 ATG yet?

Worst thread of the year on here. :patsch

After rewatching the fight and seeing what Jon Jones did for the fight game in general, and what he means to the sport at 23 years of age. He will be the greatest weve ever seen in a year. No one will beat this guy esp. under a camp like Jackson. No one pushes down a granite built all american like Bader like he doesnt exist.

He made a move where he really just pushed Bader down like he weighed 50 lbs. And the way he works from the guard at this age with his elbows, its pretty scary.

Hes doing things that you never see albeit it such a young sport. He just showed everyone that he can take anyone down with ease, with a mere wish. Thats 50% of the game as Sonnen/Silva proved. Now the next level of analysis is that He took down a monster wrestler in Bader. Bader maybe a one dimensional great wrestler but his dimensions are takedowns and TD defense, Jones shattered both with a mere thought.

Third, the way Jones stays on top, he is so ****ing athletic and active that its hard to escape. He hops, he can choke a gorilla, and he can drop elbows that is game changing. His gnp is unique because it doesnt leave an arm hanging and it comes from various angles. Bader is a tough dude because he got hit by a monumental elbow and he manages on.

Lastly, this guy is training with the best and his mental state is very matured for a 23 year old. Like I said he can improve his striking and if he uses his length better, he wont be beaten.

Sure, Silva is a better striker, hes the best in the world outside of K1. But Jones will need a pinky to take him down and when those elbows drops, good luck. And when Silva realizes, **** this guys even bigger than me. He will tap.

Yes, he beat Matyushenko and Bader in his last 2 fights, so of course he is now an automatic top 5 ATG, I'm not debating that stone-cold fact with you.

Chimba has been saying that Jones beats Silva and Rua for a while now, at least since after the Matyushenko fight, he believes in Jones.

which is not unreasonable. But he cant be considered an all time great on potental alone he has to actually achieve these victories to make the top 5.

If he defeats Shogun, I will bow down and proclaim a truly great fighter...

...but not before he ever beats ANY top 5 lhw's, never mind any champions/greats.

Im exagerrating. When Jones beat Shogun in a big way, you can then take it and make assumptions that if he manhandles Shogun (well-rounded) then everyone else should run for cover. Correct?

I analyse fighter rankings backwards. I look at the fighter and ask not if they can be beaten (because everyone can lose) but who can beat them? Thats why I have GSP at #1. I can see Sonnen beating Silva (he almost did), or Reem beating Fedor at this point but I cant see no one beating GSP.

Right now looking at talent, skill, style, accounting for a fighters progression and how they won their past fights. I cannot see anyone beating Jones at LHW.
