Shogun Rua Vs Jon 'Bones' Jones!!!!

hell yeah. great fight, dont no how this one will go. rua is a massive step up for jones.

 

Very interesting fight, I always pick Shogun vs any 205lber (I did so vs Machida both times also) but this is very interesting indeed.

Hopefully Shogun breaks him via muay thai masterclass.... oh yeah !

 

It's a fantastic fight to make at this time, Bones is crushing everyone he faces so he is definitely ready, no point in letting him do to the likes of Forrest Griffin and Rampage Jackson what he has already been doing to the likes of Ryan Bader and Brandon Vera for another 18 months, while Rua defends against no-hopers like Rashad Evans.

Cannot wait for this fight.

As good as I think Jones is and will be, Shogun is Shogun. Rua KO2.

 

has Jones chin been tested yet? **** has he ever even been effectively pressured by a striker before? Rua by Stoppage.

 

I'm convinced that Jones is the best wrestler at 205. He may not have the best credentials, but that clearly doesn't matter in MMA. Just look at GSP.

Shogun will easily be his hardest fight to date. That is just stating the glaringly obvious. He hasn't fought anybody nearly as skilled as him on the feet, or on the ground. I believe that the majority of this fight will be contested on the ground. Shogun doesn't have great TDD, but that's only because he really doesn't need to. His skills off of his back are good enough to deal with wrestlers. This also makes his striking very dangerous, has he doesn't really worry about the takedown.

My biggest worry, as a Jones fan, is submission defense. Shogun will be threatening with things that he has yet to see in competition, and I am unsure if he will be able to defend against them. If I were forced to make a prediction, I would predict Shogun via submission, because Jones' sub defense is just too much of a question mark to me.

Great fight, though. Very interesting. I really hope Jones can pull it off.

 

This is a better fight than shogun-rashad. The only reason i wanted to see shogun-rashad is to see rashad KTFO again. It's gonna be hard to pick who to cheer for since i like them both.

 

I would've liked to see Shogun knock Rashads cocky ass the hell out, but this is even better. Jon Jones is an avatar, he's a freak! You can see it in Baders face that early, very early, on he realized how much weaker he was than Jones and had no shot. Jones by domination! Shogun is great, but Jones is physically superior and way too big. Look what Forrest did to Shogun, times that by 100!

 

Shogun's going to get stopped. Jones will destroy him and have very little trouble doing it.

 

Shogun has stopped one supposedly next level of evolution fighter in Machida, so I'm not ruling him out but I would make Jones the favorite.

If he does take the belt I fully expect him to hold it until he can't make weight anymore.

 

Why do you think so?


- Rua has never been knocked out before.

- He has already beaten guys with physical advantages over him, like Overeem.

- Jones's chin and mental strength haven't been tested yet, and Rua is a killer.



As long as Rua is fit, healthy and not too rusty, I don't see how anyone can view this fight as a foregone conclusion either way.

A fully functioning Rua beats Jones IMO.

 

For me shogun wins now to good of a striker will k.o him in the first if he gets taken down I think he's good enough to get up without takin to much damage, jones will defo be champ 1 day tho!
