    Not if they create stars.

I don't necessarily agree with their plans, but they have a growing interest in showtime to worry about now.

If pac goes to showtime and starts getting cable press for free for his fights on CBS, he could propel showtime into a real spot for contention.

HBO needs to keep their talent around so they can compete.

Maybe the $1.25m ''comeback'' fight payday was a price they had to pay in order to get Bradley and Alexander to fight each other?

Bradley will fight anyone, but I'm not all that convinced Alexander was interested in taking the fight when it was first proposed..... especially after he was badly shown up by Kotelnik in his previous fight.

In any case, Atlas is right. HBO seem to be throwing money at certain fighters (such as Khan and Berto) yet playing hardball with others - such as Martinez.

There's certainly a cosy relationship between Greenburg and Al Haymon, and also GBP have a lot of influence over what fights are purchased, what fights go on PPV and ''stealing'' TV dates from other promoters.

Bob Arum has had one eye on screwing HBO over since they took a date from him to put Mosley vs Mayorga on PPV (it ended up on freeview if I remember) and practically forcing him to put Pavlik in with Hopkins and Pacquiao in with DLH.

It's a good move for him to put this fight on Showtime - they are outperforming HBO currently with the Super Six providing some great fights, and showing interest in the stables that DiBella and Shaw have.

What did HBO tell the winner of the fight?

Teddy has some truth in what he says surprisingly about this HBO move offering the loser a guarantee 1.25 million. But I have feeling Devon will have to earn that money by fighting someone like Maidana next and thats what probably HBO will do. I highly doubt Devon is going to get a tune up fight next, but rather someone who is going to make him earn that money.

because if you want people to put their undefeated record on the line you have to give em something to fall back on to if they lose it.

Or else they will just cherrypick their way through their entire career

The $1.25m is probably a better deal than the winner gets..... because they are likely to be negotiating with Team Khan next time around

I think they were both guaranteed $1.25m, win or lose.

A year ago everyone was clamoring to see this fight and HBO did what they had to do to bring the fight to us. Both are young fighters and their management wanted some sort of guarantee that this wouldn't be their last payday in case of a loss.

What the **** is with you whiny little fruits, honestly?

There shouldn't be any guarantees, especially unconditional ones that reward poor performances. HBO is in the driver's seat, not the fighters' management.
