What kind of fans are you people?

People weren't talking all that bad about Alexander before the Bradley fight. Why?because both fighters were looking good against other opponents.

It just so happens that Devon didnt look to good against Bradley. But IMO Bradley didnt look to good against Alexander either.

One fight that happened not to be a barn burner of a fight and right away these so called fans jump ship.Say stupid **** like "I dont want to see Alexander for a while on HBO."
Like a said, people weren't saying that when Devon Knocked out Urango. No,they were cry'n for the Alexander vs Bradley fight. They get it,it doesn't pan out to great, and the bitching begins.

And to all the people who said right after the fight that it was a black eye towards the sport, you dont know what you are talking about(you know who you are).

It would have been a black eye to the sport if the fight was never made...But it was,,and thats whats counts. The two best fighters in there division getting in the ring together regardless the outcome.

If HBO or Sho keep making fights like this with the best fighting the best,is that not what every boxing fan wants?

There cant be a great SUPER fight without the two best in there division getting in the ring.

All HBO or Showtime can do is get the best fighters against each other in the ring. They can tell the fighters whatever they want about making a great fight,or to put in there best efforts untill there blue in the face. The fighters are the ones in the ring making the fight what it is.

What im saying is,HBO/Showtime only have the controll to make the fights, the fighters do the rest, and sometimes there styles clash for the worst.

IMO the fight wasn't as bad as people make it out to be.

The ending,:patschnow thats another thread all together.

    I like Teddy Atlas.

    Very good boxing observer.

And he is not afraid to publicly state his opinion!

In fairness these dudes were already at a certain level and (in the minds of the network) had already earned this money. Had they not fought each other, they could have still made a lot of money, but the network and the fans would have missed the chance to see this fight, granted it was a dud but they can't control that, the smart money was on this being a great fight.

This is boxing. Don't forget. Alexander fought for 6 1/2 years to get this paycheck, he made a decent purse against Urango, and pretty good one with Kotelnik... but this boxing.. nothing is guaranteed in the future if you don't win.

It's not an easy career, and the guarantee meant security for both Bradley and Alexander for the future, something not always available to boxers. Good for them.

The fight wasn't great, and neither guy looked impressive.. and Bradley's giant head again was a big factor much like we hoped it wouldn't.

Very few boxers get big paydays, and when you take a risk like they both did, then you want to hedge your future the way they did.

One thing MMA does better than boxing is not to get hung up too much on W/L records. Boxing fans spend far greater time talking about the L's instead of the W's far too often.

Teddy Atlas has a good point. I thought the same thing... right after Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports said the same exact thing 1 day after the Bradley-Alexander fight and 3 days before Teddy Atlas repeated it.

    Yahoo Sports: good articles.

"There was no incentive for him to try to argue with referee Frank Garza and ringside physicians when they were trying to determine whether to stop the match after he was cut by an inadvertent clash of heads in the 10th round. He had the comeback fight and its $1.25 million payday already assured and had no need to plead for the chance to finish."

It makes sense for HBO next time to not buy a fight they don't know how it would turn out.

I'm sure, at that exact moment in time, right after getting nailed by Bradley's enormous giant boulder of a head, that he thought "Well **** it, I got 1.25m for my next fight, I'll quit now".

Get the **** out of here with that ****.

It's easy to say **** like that when you weren't in the ring. Use the same argument for EVERY MAJOR sport in the States where guys have contracts.. let's say I'm A-Rod... why even bother trying at all.. I got 125m over the next 7 years.. **** it.. I'll ride the bench.. or Kobe.. he's got a max deal.. why bother trying.. why even try playing.. money's guaranteed. Stupid ****ing argument that you only hear in this sport.

    +1.

Boxing fans are the worst. The dumbest mother****ers in the world.

the only think Atlas said that is true is that the people at HBO despite all their mistakes are a lot smart than he is.

    Quoted for truth.

It's like the fans hate the ****ing sport and want to see it fail so they can just ***** more about the decline of the sport.

Devon just starting to get in the limelight and he just wasted the opportunity the fight presented him. He should have lost the way Antillon did to Soto. I for one would not watch another Devon fight, but would rather look forward to Soto-Antillon or Jones-Soto Karas rematch. His future in boxing is finished. That the fight turned out the way it did, dismal attendance and boring result did not help HBO after the Arum switch to Showtime. Fight fans were not fooled by the 0 in their records. Sometimes an undefeated fighter really sucks when the going gets tough, and it was not that tough. Will Devon get better after this loss, I don't want to watch and find out. Sometimes I wonder why some of the most boring fights involve fighters with 0 losses. That fight will be Devon's first and last main event. HBO took the risk. You win some and you lose some. What if the fight turned out to be FOTY, and Devon bolts to Showtime? $1.25 million is not much a loss for HBO to take. Just 1 fight.
