Oh definitely. But still, champions are champions because they overcome whatever. Ruiz didn't beat Jones but he overcame a lot of **** to defend his title and get it back.

It's an insult what Popkins said by comparing Pacs win vs Clottey to Jones vs Ruiz. (Not you but Popkins)

No, I'm talking about Toney, who got caught, and then the fight changed to a NC.

Like I've said before, you know nothing outside of Pac.

I wouldn't be surprised if you just did your research on Jones because a thread came up comparing Jones and Pac.

    Woa Woa.

Ruiz has accomplished A LOT more than Clottey.

Despite how much we all hate Ruiz and his style.

    He still kept winning.

    Somehow.

I don't view it as an insult at all.

Have you seen Ruiz vs Jones and Ruiz vs Toney?

Ruiz was a mediocrity, one of the worst hw champs ever. His performances were diabolical.

Clottey showed me more in the fights with Cotto, Judah and even Margarito than Ruiz ever did. Clottey will come back and become a top ww, you wait and see.

Ruiz went 1-1-1 with a version of Holyfield that Toney absolutely dominated and stopped... and that was Ruiz's great career achievement.

    Woo-****ing-hoo. :partya

Obviously Jones-Ruiz ranks higher as a win than Pac-Clottey because of the historical significance of Jones-Ruiz and the fact RJJ and the Quiet Man were further apart in terms of weight on the night, but to consider ONE FIGHT between Jones and a fighter like Ruiz as greater than ALL of Pac's weight-jumping achievements is borderline ******ed. It smacks of a severe lack of knowledge & understanding of boxing.

If Jones had beaten a great hw, then it may be a different discussion. But this is just dumb. Ruiz was rotten.

Pacquiao is the weight gain, and catchweight undisputed all time king.

I have Roy Jones's career set and would utterly dominate you in any detailed discussion of Roy Jones. :deal

I am actually a big Jones fan (just ask the Calzaghe fans), but even as a Roy fan I don't put much stock in the Ruiz win. It was a nice achievement because of the historical significance, but Ruiz's performance was pathetic and he was always a mediocre fighter.

Ruiz beat Holyfield, Kirk Johnson, then after beat, Golota, Quendo, Rahman, and arguably Valuev and Chageav.

You act like Ruiz was a one and done champion, which he was not.

Roy Jones jump from 175 to 199 is a HUGE step and what makes the fight so great and keeps him up to par with Pacs steps up.

    Here's the thing.

Pac's stepped up in weight while Jones made a big jump. (Pac did make a big jump but he ended up fighting punching bag)

    Let me ask "eze":

    - Tomasz Adamek started as a pro at 175lbs, and recently weighed 217lbs while defeating the 261lbs Michael Grant.

Is he also a better weight-jumper than Pacquiao then? Is he also a better weight-jumper than Jones?

Poundage seems to be the only issue here, while number of wins and calibre of opposition are being thrown to the sidelines.

Actually Ruiz beat the far better Holyfield than Toney did...

No matter how you slice it, Ruiz is a top 5 Heavyweight of the past 10 years. It has been a weak divsion, but Jones dominated Ruiz something every other fighter had trouble doing except Tua and Haye. But when he fought Haye is was well past his best and like 38 years old.
