Probably because it didn't have the same ring. :D

George Dixon, Langford's idol, moved to Boston at an early age in order to have a better chance of succeeding as a boxer, but is still considered Canadian. The same applies for Langford.

If you considered place of birth to be the equivalent of nationality, then Dixon and Langford are most assuredly Canadian, and to the best of my knowledge, neither of them ever renounced their citizenship at any point.

Well damn...Tavistock isn't exactly known for its sparkling array of professional boxers.

Best option would probably be Scott Dann, from nearly Plymouth. Good at a domestic level.

    Nobody done Liverpool yet?
    Oh go on then!

    John Conteh
    Ernie Roderick
    Alan Rudkin
    Paul Hodkinson
    Nel Tarleton
    Shea Neary

You could also include Charley White aka Charles Anchowitz born in Liverpool but fought out of Chicago fought for world titles at lightweight and welterweight 4 times knocking Benny Leonard out the ring in one of his failed challenges.
