He has been on $200k with no bonus for ages. Griffin and Belfort both earned $275k. Silva did get the $75k KOTN. It is time, Silva gets upgraded. I don't know how that hasn't happened with him winning 13 fights in the UFC, 11 of those fights by stoppage and 8 bonuses. Anderson Silva: $200,000 (includes no win bonus) def. Vitor Belfort: $275,000 Forrest Griffin: $275,000 ($150,000 win bonus) def. Rich Franklin: $75,000 Jon Jones: $140,000 ($70,000 win bonus) def. Ryan Bader: $20,000 Jake Ellenberger: $32,000 ($16,000 win bonus) def. Carlos Eduardo Rocha: $8,000 Miguel Torres: $56,000 ($28,000 win bonus) def. Antonio Banuelos: $9,000 Donald Cerrone: $36,000 ($18,000 win bonus) def. Paul Kelly: $19,000 Chad Mendes: $19,000 ($9,500 win bonus) def. Michihiro Omigawa: $8,000 Demetrious Johnson: $10,000 ($5,000 win bonus) def. Norifumi Yamamoto: $15,000 Paul Taylor: $36,000 ($18,000 win bonus) def. Gabe Ruediger: $8,000 Kyle Kingsbury: $20,000 ($10,000 win bonus) def. Ricardo Romero: $10,000 Mike Pierce: $28,000 ($14,000 win bonus) def. Kenny Robertson: $6,000
Isn't this where Dana chimes in that his fighters are getting paid more than what their "official" pay is listed as? Of course, he never states just how much more.
Other major sports reveal their athlete's salaries. If Dana wants to dispel criticisms that his fighters don't get paid enough, then fully disclose how much they get paid beyond their publicly released salaries. Or perhaps those numbers wouldn't be that impressive either?
Its a sad thing that when all is said and done, Anderson maybe has not netted a Million dollars fighting for the UFC in terms of pay per fight. I'm sure that almost half of the winnings go to taxes, thats a given. Then all the expenses of training, travel, meals, insurance. Its a sad joke when you consider that Silva has provided more 'WoW" moments in the history of MMA than anyone else.
Who started this BS that Dana pays more under the table to these guys??? Its the most ignorant thing I have heard/read in a while. The ****in IRS went to audit me for a mere 20k discrepancy in my return and they'll let Zuffa and co. get away with hidden payroll disbursements??atsch Fighters make their money with their fight pay, sure there are endorsements but unless you're freaking Tiger Woods pre scandal or Michael Jordan. Its not much?
Why the **** do people care what the fighters are being paid? Look, you're not their ****ing lawyer, it's not a slave contract, they agree to the terms, what's the ****ing issue? Great idea, guys. Throw a dog a bone and start putting more money into the game, that'll not corrupt things and not make the issue of fights not coming off over "money" happen. If they're happy, the UFC are happy, and the lawyer is happy, what the **** should you care what's going in another person's pocket? It just infuriates me when people want to throw money at people not knowing it's not broke in the first place.
If you really believe Anderson only gets paid 200k from Zuffa per fight... youre a complete moron. Youre getting athletic commission reports... not IRS statements.
Its already been revealed in Coutures contract that ppv bonuses exist.. and are quite large. You're the conspiracy theorist. Rich Franklin was on the Adam Carolla show last week and said he gets high six figures for a fight. There he is listed at 75k. But i guess you know more than Franklin.
forgot about that. he will be getting a cut. couture, liddell, ortiz etc all made way more than we though as a result of getting a cut of the ppv.
He's not paying people under the table you jackass. The contract stipulates the base pay but that doesn't stop the UFC paying fighters more based on how well the show did or how successful the fighter was in their role. Multiple journalist have reported that fighters get these extracontractural bonuses, and yes of course they still have o be declared to the IRS. Its a less formalised version of the system that has existed in the WWE for ages - there so much of the revenue from each show is set aside for talent pay and then a formula is used to divide that money between those who appeared on the show. In any case this is not the issue here. Silva recieves PPV points which obviously can't be declared now even if the UFC wanted to because they don't know how well it did yet. Again when the contract's were publicised in the Couture dispute he was earning significantly above his base pay and most commentators have talked about Lesnar earning $3mill per fight instead of the $400,000 stated in purse figures.
Fair enough. I'd like to see Zuffa release these numbers publicly just so they can dispel the criticisms. I realize they probably aren't obligated too, but then it might put to rest the idea that top level MMA fighters are poorly paid. I think it makes Zuffa look bad when the official salaries appear low. Do they want the public perception to be that the best fighter in the MMA world makes 200K a fight, when Floyd Mayweather makes around 20 million?
