Why was Hopkins beating Trinidad considered such a big win for Hopkins?

Its simple. Trinidad was the clear favorite to win the fight. He had knocked out Joppy, a fighter Hopkins could not. Hopkins had even made a bet on himself confident he would of knocked out Joppy so he lost the bet.
