i agree about the other fights you have mentioned but mcbride vs adamek isn't a fight i'd demand to be on sky. don't think it would generate any real interest. premier sports might pick up the other fights that sky don't, they have been stepping things up in regards to boxing
They should set a minimum for Saturday fight nights of a domestic title fight plus another title fight (english title or above). Theres no reason not to have that on every show. Also the undercard fights which get commentated on but never shown in full should be uploaded to the Sky Sports website. More US fights would be nice. There should be at least one a month.
I totally agree with you on the under card fights and utilising the Sky Sports website with this footage. They already put up the Ringside stuff on their website, so this is a no-brainer. I thought part of the problem with the minimum of say two domestic titles, was not so much that they have titles, but the right matches.....still the titles in theory should help make the right matches, as at least both fighters have something to fight in order to take the riskier match......
Another way they could do this is get two lads that they want to meet on the same bill - by forcing co-operation between promoters. At the minute they seem to just say ''oh, well it will be big down the line''. Well, erm.... yeah - but get some force behind it to make people want to see it. Shove them on the same bill, or have the other guy in the studio or at ringside on the mic being interviewed at the same time. Just do something!
the US co-promote all the time. the Bradley vs Alexander fight was a co-promotion. Has Warren ever done a co-promotion with a UK promoter?
It will be interesting to correlate the viewing figures for Sky Boxing, I have the figures thus far and so far there has been an uplift in the figures but not much and it's not enough to show the success of Adam Smith's work.
What was so good about the undercard at the last 2 Maloney shows?? Infact Jason Booth vs Jamie Arthur is two guys not even in the top 20 in the world fighting each other?
That wasn't my point. You were using Bradley vs Alexander as a point as to why co-promotions were good.
everyones a ****ing smart arse on here arent there. i could give a million other example mate. Marquez vs Katsidis card DiBella and GBP put it together. and that was a good example. two undefeated americans, unifying the titles no one gives a **** about the undercard. you no how many fights a UK promoter has put on in 2010 a US network showed??? 0. compare the to the number of US shows shown in the UK??
I wasn't having a dig. I'm not sure why you're getting so defensive. I thought you were referring to the undercard which is why I pulled you up on that. Anyway, the Bradley fight wasn't a great card... it could have been much better if it was in a decent venue and had at least 1 decent undercard fight. Wasn't Fat Mick's York Hall show on Showtime last year?
