Jones dominating toney was classic since both were middleweights at the time. B-hop dominating tito was huge too but i like jones jr performance better.

Jones-Toney was the best win of the four, followed by Hopkins-Trinidad.

But if you are talking purely about the skills on display, I go with Toney vs the Blade. That fight is just a masterclass of inside fighting like nothing else I've ever seen. From the 1st bell, the bigger Barkley just launches into attacks, and Toney's technique in rolling punches and ripping him with rapid hooks and uppercuts on the inside is jaw-dropping. It's like he instinctively knows what Barkley is going to do before Barkley does, and unleashes the counter pre-emptively!

    Esteemed boxing trainer Dan Birmingham:

"Rather than dwelling on what Jeff didn't do in the ring, I'd like to dwell on what Joe did," said the American.

"He was a master of distance and timing. I've never seen a better performance, even by an American boxer, forget about Britain."

Well done, you've found the most ******ed comment ever made by anyone. You are applauding someone saying Calzaghe-Lacy was a better performance than Robinson-LaMotta IV, SRL-Benitez, Duran-Leonard 1, Whitaker-Nelson, Mayweather-Corrales, etc. :nut

Interesting you mention Leonard-Benitez amongst those fights. Do you really think it was one-sided? Dont get me wrong, it was a great performance, I'm just assuming(perhaps wrongly) that since you mentioned it with those fights, you think he outclassed him in a similar fashion.

If you knew anything about context, you would note that esteemed trainer Birmingham was talking about fights he saw in the flesh.:rofl:patsch

His opinion holds an infinitely higher amount of weight than yours. World-class boxing trainer, or no-life internet virgin. I know whose opinion I'd go with. :deal

You're now going onto block as you are a complete and utter ****. :hi:

Yes, it's very clear that Birmingham is referring to fights he saw in the flesh. This is patently obvious from his use of the phrases "live", "in the flesh" and "I was there", which can all be found in the passage you quoted:

I definitely should have noticed that. :patsch

    ****ing idiot.

RJJ vs. Toney was the most memorable fight experience out of the group for me.....but if you are focusing on pure *technical* skill it's either Hop vs. Trinidad or Toney vs. Barkley. RJJ's skill was something to behold but the guy rarely ever threw a jab, let alone displayed conventional skills that could be duplicated by other fighters. That's a testament to his freak athletic ability.

"He was a master of distance and timing."

He sure was. He kept great distance from high-level competition by staying in the UK, and he timed his biggest name opponents by catching them well into their 40's.

Honestly, I like Joe C. more than the average fan, but he was more a tenacious executor of his unusual style than a conventional technician.

 I'm annoyed at myself that I never thought of that joke actually. Kudos.
