If Mayorga comes in healthy and makes weight, I would not be surprised if he gets Cotto in trouble or beats him. Cotto has only fought once at 154 and Mayorga was a past champion at 154 meaning Mayorga is use to being much heavier. So, Mayorga should be much stronger and his height helps too. I just hope it is competitive and wish both luck.

    Thanks for these videos.

The one with the interview with mayorga, you know, I actually believe he is looking at the cotto fight as him fighting a lesser opponent, not only compared to people hes fought (and hed be right) but also to himself.

I really hope Mayorga trains his ass off for this fight, not that I think it will matter as much because at this point its more then being in shape, hes just an aged fighter at this point, but it would go a long way for him if he can come in shape.

And as for Cotto, he said beforehand that he wouldnt let Mayorga get to him but its obvious that Mayorga has.

I think cotto has too much skill for the WILD man!!

Vernon Forrest had way more skill than Kneegal Cotto, look what Mayo did to Vernon who destroyed Shane 2 times, and don't say Cotto destroyed Mosley because it was a close fight that could've gone either way and Cotto was running away from Shane in the later rounds

If Mayorga is the same person that fought Mosley. I think he got a shot at the upset. But it's been a lot of years since he been in the ring. Looks like just a money fight.

But did you guys see Mayorgas last fight? Even for fighting down to opposition which Im sure he did, he didnt look good.

Its been seven years since the forrest fights, you might as well be talking about a different fighter.

And for as good as Mayorga did against Mosley, it wasnt the Mosley that Cotto fought, and Mayorga took punishment in that fight (as usual) which only added more mileage to his already insanely high odometer, which culminated in a devistating KO, then go ahead and add even more ring rust and a sloppy 'comeback fight' and some age on him and youve got a platter served to Cotto to make him look like everyone else that Mayorga gets matched up against since he has left welterweight, and that is to have a spectacular showcase fight against a recognisable name.

That being said, I agree that Mayorga can make this interesting if he can even come in the version he was against Mosley (but that in itself is not a given at this point, and I think the Mayorga that fought Mosley is the best that Mayorga can be at this stage of his career)

I think if this fight was 5 years ago, that Mayorga would win, but Mayorga is old and heavily worn at this stage.

I think Mayorga can make it fun if he comes in shape due to how he matches up with Cotto despite him being close to shot (imo), and his size and strength, but Steward will have Cotto boxing, using his jab and speed, circling and backing away probably, avoiding a firefight at all costs.

I admit part of me is being devils advocate because I dont want to get my hopes too high that Mayorga can make this a good showing for himself, hes one of my fav fighters all time and I have had many bad nights following his big fights, so Id rather prepare for the worst and maybe be surprised with a good showing :D

And this is precisely why mayorga keeps fighting even though he sucks. Mayorga is a promoters dream he knows how to sell a fight and how to keep himself in the news to keep cashing in. Macho Camacho did this as well and was great at it even when he wasnt relevant any more he still managed to fight like ten more yrs and earn a good pay check as well doing it.

    :hat
