:huh You're saying that wasn't a good match up? What's the world got to do with it, it was a British fight.
One show and it was only shown because of a contract Hennesey had in place. Your jumping of my point and picking holes in what im saying which is why im getting annoyed. My point is US promoters reguarly co-promote. I said Bradley vs Alexander as its the most recent example.
It was a good fight but it wouldnt be eligable for a US PPV. HBO are intrested in world level not domestic like sky.
Smiths wooden personality is his downfall, Ringside is improving but needs more honesty in their debates to spark some real opinions for once.
Everybody gave Audley a chance. Very few laughed at the fight. Gavin Rees did and the interview got cut immediately.
there were plenty of "hardcore" fan on here giving Audley a shot not just the ones having a laugh either.
I agree, but there were plenty more who saw the fight for what it evidently was from the start. There wasn't one dissenting voice from Sky that I can remember. I know it's difficult when they are trying to sell the fight but a bit of realism needs to be at the fore. For the record, I think Smith is doing a great job. Plenty of improvements still to be made, but I am sure he is fully aware of that.
The whole episode was a sorry affair for all concerned, in particular David Haye and Sky, it painted them in a very bad light indeed. A few people probably bought it for the comedy value, which shows the general opinion of Audley Harrison throughout the country. It's probably the only time an incident like this has occured recently, and with the fighters currently knocking around on the domestic scene it's unlikely there'll be another like it. It just showed what kind of man David Haye is. A money grabbing coward, who doesn't give a **** about anything but himself. For different reasons it proved why the same could be said about Aud the Fraud too.
the problem is we put to much pressure on sky to deliver as they are the only boradcaster of boxing. imagine if they pulled out? if we had 4 different boxing broadcastes we would get a more balanced opinion on whats going on. the problem is the only tv/radio based boxing opinion we get is Buncey and he is probably the most bias journo in boxing. Other broadcasters were heavily critical of the fight. If you listned to 5live after the fight Harrison and Haye got allot of stick from the presenters (excluding Bunce) and the public calling in.
John Rawlings is absolutely god awful he kills the atmosphere for me. Id much rather have Smith commentaing. Or better yet...bring back the master...IAN DARKE!!:deal
No big fights from the US and the sport of Boxing almost singlehandedly turned into a joke in the eyes of mainstreaming sporting fans through the farcical Haye Harrison fight, which Smith and Sky pushed and pushed for. Yeah, great start, atleast we get 9 man commentary teams now, that makes up for the above.
