Don't know if anyone read Coldwell's Corner in Boxing News but the magazine picked the topic and Coldwell wrote the piece.

The article has now been removed for some reason, and it was Coldwell's opinions about DeGale and the talk of fighting for a World Title and that he maybe should go for Sartison next, and if he wants to raise his profile in America then Pavlik would be a good fight to do that but its way too soon.

Right at the bottom of the article there is a statement from Frank Warren basically stating that Coldwell has no right of an opinion, asking him how world champions he has promoted, he has been the game longer blah blah.

totally disrespectful but I think the logic is...don't have a different opinion from Warren.

The article has now been removed so I can't post the exact quotes!

Yes i read the article before it was removed and in some ways i can understand Warrens criticism in that if Alex Ferguson started telling Arsene Wenger how to set his team out he would tell him f off.

What Dave actually said wasnt really derogatory just his opinion on what he would do if he were to chose Degales next fights as we often speculate on these forums the problem is Dave is involved in th business so you can see how Warren could take offence. Sadly for Dave he doesnt even get to choose the subject of his column and has been caught up in a shitstorm because of it.

It's ridiculous if the article was taken down. There was nothing wrong with it and Dave was just giving his opinion.

that fair enough mate, but how many times has Warren ran his mouth in the Sun slagging off A, B & C and doesn't get told to retract?!

Obviously they are trying to get DeGale to not fight Groves for some reason...

DC was indeed asked to map out a Groves-less future for DeGale and he did exactly as he was asked – no blame for the resultant furore is attached to him. Warren was unhappy given Dave's position at a rival promoter and I can understand that. We put his response up yesterday but I felt we had acted wrongly in doing so as it came across more as personal criticism than a comment on the piece itself. I was planning to remove Warren's comment today but we (Tris and I) decided it would be better for all parties involved to draw a line under the issue by removing the entire article. Then this thread began lol

Honestly do not understand why you would ask Coldwell to pen such an article. This sort of reaction was always inevitable.

Why the hell would anyone want to see a Groves-less future article about DeGale with the purse bids 1 week (now 1 day) awat. Utterly pointless.

I'm not sure that removing the article was the right thing to do.

It wasn't written in a critical manner, and gives the impression that Warren and his stable are above reasoned debate, and also undermines Dave's credibility to a degree too.

Let the article stay as is and ignore Warren's comments.

There weren't any grounds for a court case after all.

A world free of anybody else having an opinion would suit someone down to the ground, fortunately we got past that scenario many years ago.
