different perspectives most likely. while some do not like his theatrics outside the ring, some people do. for us fans, it's all about entertainment and what we consider entertaining varies greatly. you put a premium on legacy and like seeing great talents achieve greatness, that's what entertains you and most here. some people get entertained to a different degree than that. floyd simply flaunting his money alone is enough to drive his fans nuts because that's what they put a premium on.

Floyd dont care why you are watching his fights.Cheering for him to win or not.Thats plus two for Floyd.Haters watching for him to lose, and fans that cheer for him to win.

Wanna know how they could like the man as a person?Ask dionne warwick.I think you've already answered 95% of you own question.

The answer to your question is embedded in your own post:

Full stop. That right there is more than sufficient to justify his fanbase.

Most fans want to see EXCELLENCE in a performer's craft, not a reflection of their 'personal values'.

Most people bump R. Kelly because he is the most talented singer/songwriter of his generation, even if though they don't approve of pizzing on (allegedly) underaged girls.

Richard Pryor being a women beating, self destructive drug abuser doesn't change the fact that the man is the most influential comic in American History.

People enjoy watching Mayweather do something (box) that he is brilliant at doing. What's so hard to understand about that?

I know he doesn't care. Why do you keep saying that? What about Dionne Warwick?

Some people are entertained by certain behaviour, find it cool etc. Just look at a lot of hip hop artists these days

So rooting for someone because they are the more gifted is the reason. In my opinion that's gloryhunting, I couldn't just disregard all the negatives about someone simply because they are gifted. I'd appreciate their skills but couldn't actually cheer them on. I'll get behind a less gifted warrior than a talented primadonna every day of the week.

The people you compared them with isn't fair either because those are artists, they don't have competitors like in sports.

Prior to Mosley jumping in on his JMM victory, Mayweather called Mosley out twice whilst he, Mosley, was in his prime.

But other than that, great post and I agree with everything.

Meaning why do you care or want to know the specific reason for the lil % of people who realy like the man as a person.

Cant you fill those blanks in yourself.

Why do people follow any of the celebritys.**** like how Kim Kardashian was seen in soho on a shopping spree,or how this celeb chick or that celeb chick is having a baby.

Some people are into that kind of thing.

And the ones that feel Floyd cant do no wrong are just obsessed IMO,just like the people that follow what was said above.

Personaly i try and focus on what goes on in the ring as a fan.And Floyd gives me something not to many fighters can when he fights. The best all around skills in the bizz.

Floyd is no saint and nobody condones what he does outside the ring or any negative thing that any other man does. As a boxing fan I like Floyd inside the ring and whatever is going on with his personal life is his business. Could care less about his money bc I am too busy focusing on my own money!

For all his crap you just have to appreciate his talent and a lot of people do but i think this latest absence is testing even his most hardened fans

these are all personality traits u mention and as a serious boxing fan u pertain to be, have neglected any real, authoritative boxing opinion based on pros or cons of his game, style, defence or attacking, fitness etc etc. in summary, look i totally agree with most of u that in some cases, his attitude or actions are what most would accept as unreasonable....others may go further but, lets be real, his personality shouldnt detract away from the classy fighter that he is. many will say hes ducking this opponent, not fighting that opponent but in reality....these are just our own opinions of what we see, read and hear as boxing fans......only Mayweather himself can truely know if hes afraid of the fight or not......only pacman can know if hes truely clean of the substances hes been accused of......WE ARE JUST SPECTATORS AND OPINIONATORS OF THE SPORT WE ALL LOVE. Peace.

    Really?

Then why are you gushing over murdering wife beater E. Valero in this post (LINK):

I mean, I'm pretty sure you don't approve of Valero's out of the ring felonious capers. So, what exactly about him 'sickens' you now that he's gone?
