Why was Calzaghe beating Lacy considered such a big win for Calzaghe?

94.6% was the official figure released by the american government.

the whole point is that america is not watching the best fighters anymore, barring mayweather, american boxing stinks. america is basically in control of the sport, hosting the major fights, running the biggest tv companies, odlh running ring magazine, home to the games main promoters and you are simply not looking after the best interests of the sport, you hype shite like dawson and then he is exposed by a b-level carl froch victim, you hype alexander and then he is schooled by eurobum kotelnik.

This comment stinks.Come on HB,you can come up with something better than this.

"American boxing stinks" "you are simply not looking after the best interest of the sport":|Yes HB,it's fans like me who are bringing the sport down.

If eveyone was like you, there would be no boxing.Except in the UK.

I sense much hate and anger in your comments.

 Nothing else to say but laugh realy.

And i dont want to here that you have watched another american fight from here on.We all know that will never happen.

Before that he had been fighting largely unknown fighters in relative obscurity in the UK, with a few exceptions. Lacy was still in the UK, but not only was it a unification bout, but, in my eyes, had Calzaghe lost, it would have solidified the homecooked, regional fighter tag that he had been saddled with. With the blow out, he served notice that he was indeed a top fighter, and the best the division had to offer.

After that, it also seemed Calzaghe got a little more cavalier and ended up taking bigger risks, in Kessler and Hopkins, than he had up until that point.

    Do you disagree?

I got it wrong, man. I thought you were claiming it was Calzaghe's first bout at World Class/first step up to World level.

Yeah, that win got him more attention, definitely. And recognized not only in the UK, but America, Europe, etc. :good

american boxing stinks as in the tv companies, the venues, the promoters, ring magazine, the fact that you have control of the sport and that these media outlets are brainwashing a gullable, ignorant nation into thinking that your fighters are still the best, when in fact they stink, with 79.3% of them having fragile glass hearts

Got it. I have been critical of Calzaghe and his resume in particular, but there was no doubting the dude could fight and the beating he put on Lacy was really an eye opener.

Yep, if he tested himself earlier, fought greater competition all-round...he could have actually had a couple more very good/great wins on his resume. Every time it was time to step up, he did (in the ring).

I believe the odds may have been close to even for that fight, and if Lacy was the fave it wasn't by much.

In retrospect it seems ridiculous, but Lacy was a massive hype job and the public bought into it.

    No doubt.

He is a very polarizing figure because of that.

its the whole package, the american fans are victims in a way because they are constantly spoon fed this delusional bull**** and are so gullable, ignorant and narrow minded that they take as gospel what is said on hbo, what is spoke by arum and don king, what is written in ring magazine

i wouldn't feel really bad about me Tbone, you have zero vcash........none :rofl

don king probably told you that was a good thing....right?
