Most of the public won't know this. And they defintely do want to keep the true figures secret because it helps keep wages down. Plus keeping base pay down is a legitmate positive because it stops them being in a HBO/Golden Boy stuation where there contractually obliged to pay the fighter so much regardless of the commercial or critical success of the fight.

I used too remember Chuck getting 500k for every single fight. I know Anderson isn't as popular as the Iceman, but as a p4p King you should get between 300k - 400k.

Sorry Achilles, If they are getting a cut of PPVs and other "declared" salaries. Then there is no issue here.

200K is what ortiz and couture used to get paid when they were champions. With the bonus addition 275k is what the champs usually gets paid.

Only ones i've seen get paid more is lesnar and toney mainly cuz they attract more fans to watch ufc.

call them tight but i call them smart, this method provides incentive to keep winning and if you have a bigger fan base you get paid more,it also eliminates the bs of "well x got 500,000 i want 700,000 paying athletes too muchis detrimental anyway, look at dirrell and alexander both on great money and both quiters

id like to see some sort of bonus for guys who have been consistently good.
10 million for 10 straight wins or something like that.
it gives the fighters incentive and keeps them from whinging about how "undervalued" they are. It sort of says to the fighter hey if your so good, prove it. cause theres huge money waiting for you if you do.

UFC cant afford that money just because they have to bankroll the Fertittas money losing Station Casinos. They can certainly pretend that they would do that but for his 10 straight win, theyd feed Edgar to Cain.

I think Silva makes about a million when you factor in basic, bonuses, commission and sponsorship.

Er the Fertittas can't use UFC money to bankroll station casinos...they can however divest themselves of some of their stock for that purpose. Which is probably part of the reasonw they sold stock to Abu Dhabi last year.

Btw Meltzer talked about this on his radio show today. Apparently when Silva reneogiated his contract a few years ago he chose to have a lower than normal base pay in favour of a bigger than normal cut of the ppv.

In a french interview, GSP states how his pay works. Press the CC button for subtitles.

    From 1:30 to 2:05

Top fighters do get a cut of the PPV and that is where the real money is. When he cracks this big smile is when he talks about PPV money. :p

Chuck would double that with his PPV %, not including bonus or sponsorship.

GSP discloses where even more money comes in. If you sign a 6 fight deal you get more money. In other words, UFC get you under a tighter contract.

PS - I have such a man crush on George.

Are you implying Anderson is a money launderer or a drug dealer or something?:huh
