I love it when promoters match 2 potential opponents for the main event winner against each other in the co-feature.

Boxing (promoters, networks, managers) ought to invoke this scenario more often.

 

The first fight was a less competitive version of Mercado/Hopkins 1(cheack this fight out, it's great) so will the second fight be a schooling Mercado/Hopkins 2 was? One thing's for sure is that Hopkins ain't getting any younger and needs to make the best of his last years. He's on his way out while Pascal is trying to establish himself as a great name.

Agreed. He's a marvel at his age but we still can see that he's not what he once was. Still smart enough to trouble anyone but the fact is he's old, let the much younger lions kill each other and retire while you still have your health B-Hop.

I didn't say they were exactly the same I just said they're similar. He gets decked twice and gets a draw in another man's hometown so it was deja vu in a way. I thought Mercado showed better inside fighting too.

at his age, I always worry about him getting old in one night and it being like a louis-marciano or a ali-holms
given Nards mentality, I think us fans are gonna have to resign ourselves to that because I think he wont quit till he just doesnt have it anymore and maybe not even then

 

Thats cool and all but they better have given Dawson the winner.No ifs ands or buts.

IMO they should have given Dawson his rematch first.Then give B-Hop the winner.Just out of principle.

But this may be good for Dawson.He gets in the ring and gets to test the things he was working on in the gym with Steward before his rematch from his first lose.

 

Honestly I didn't think he'd perform as well as he did against Pascal. This is why he's one of the smartest boxers of recent times because his skills have carried him so far but I don't think he's smart enough to know that he might bite off more than he can chew one day. I hope he does retire after his next fight.

 

This sounds like the common sense thing to happen. Time is ticking on Hopkins, and Dawson gets a winnable fight in his first outing with Steward and either a rematch or the long-awaited Hopkins fight he couldn't land.

Everyone gets a shot to settle it in the ring. Would prefer Dawson/Cloud, but oh well.

 

Hopkins-Pascal II with Dawson-Diaconu/Andrade is one hell of a free TV double-header! :happy
