The WBC recently declared their Light Middleweight title vacant with Pac failing to defend it, making their "Silver" Champion "Canelo" Alvarez their official challenger for the full title.

Now Alvarez is defending his silver belt to "Magic" Matthew Hatton (Ricky Hatton's little brother), and is supposed to beat the living sh*t out of the lesser brother coming March 5.
Now will this fight be upgraded to be for the full WBC belt, or will the winner (probably Canelo) face another (probably stronger) opponent later this year is my question?

If it isn't, I expect Canelo vs Mora for the title later in the year

I don't see how facing hatton (a welterweight and not a particularly good one or highly ranked one) can be for the JMW title that would be a new low

Is that official or is that what you expect to happen according to their "official rules", cause it's known they (and most other alphabets) are known to bend their rules to their own liking if it's in their best interest.

Isn't Canelo gunning for the WW title first? The other thing I heard he's looking to fight Trout for the WBA belt later (the guy who just beat Saul's brother at 54).

I guess Sulaiman will do anything to hand Alvarez a world title, but I'd prefer Canelo to earn one. Whether it's against Senchenko, Zaveck, Trout or K9, it don't matter, just fight an actual champ.

I thought the fight was at 150. If it is he should not get the title.

Probably depends on the ppv buys generated and the sanctioning fees they could grab.

I'd guess it will be for the silver then later this year they have a BIGGER fight and get MORE MONEY!
