RJJ, as we all know, was practically unbeatable in his prime; a great fighter and a sight to behold, lightning reflexes, dazzling combinations, unorthodox punches from unorthodox angles and big power in both hands.
But who do you think would have been able to beat Jones at his best?
The only fighters I can think of who have a chance are Sugar Ray Robinson and Marvin Hagler.

When it comes to "who can beat Roy Jones" SRR and Hagler are also the first two guys who pop into my head.

I don't think Sugar Ray Robinson is quite big enough to pull it off if we are talking "best weights" and "prime for prime" - his first time through light heavy Jones was pretty deadly. Maybe Hagler. But of all the greatest of the great fighters, Jones is the one with the least solid fundamental skills and the most mediocre punch resistance. I feel like a past prime Roy gets beaten by a lot of guys with big big punches, and MAYBE there is a miracle "fast" hard hitting guy who sneaks in a KO on a prime Jones, but they have to be fast, accurate, and DEADLY with one punch (like, maybe Tommy Hearns has a 20% chance to get lucky and end it with one precise shot before Jones finishes him off (80% certainty)) I do think Hearns had slightly more raw power than Sugar Ray Robinson, just in terms of one punch devastation.

Well, I consider Jones' prime to be at 168. So, by that reckoning, nobody. I can see him being beaten at 160 and 175, sure. But not super-middle.

Hopkins baby! Oh wait, Jones beat him pretty handily, but I think Hopkins just got better and bette after that. Nevermind. The only way to beat a prime Jones at his best weight is to follow Montell Griffen's blueprint and get him DQed.

    Yup

Those were the 2 fighters i was going to choose as well

They the only 2 i believe that has a "chance" of beating RJJ

But even then,my bet would always be on Roy against anybody from 154 to 175

    Bob Foster and Mike Spinks.

Below 175.... I honestly believe no one.

Fighters who I think would have a good opportunity , now this is a list of styles rather than just names. I have Hearns at 160 , but not Hagler as I think Tommy is better suited to beating Jones.

    Nunn - 160
    Mclellen - 160
    Hearns - 160
    Moorer - 175
    Billy Conn - 175
    Bob Foster - 175
    Michael Spinks - 175
    Gene Tunney - 175
    Ezzard Charles - 175

Are we talking P4P or fighters around his weight?

Fighters around his weight...very few, if any. If Rocky Marciano came down to 175, he would gave Jones a good fight.

Calzaghe's style wouldn't have been easy for Jones, even in his prime.

    :lol::lol::lol:

Tunney couldnt spell African American, although his style was effective for his time, it'd be pretty inept against Jones.

Wow, I remember when RJJ fought at 154. Unbelievable speed. I would have to say Hearns. Hearns was a beast at 147 and 154. SRR would also have a chance. I just think Hagler would be too slow for RJJ. SRL was fast with Hagler at 160, but RJJ was much faster with pop at 160.

Im not sure why you are saying this , Tunney was way ahead of his time , a great tactitian , and one of the absolute greats, and you ridicule someone for saying he could beat Roy Jones?
