I would take the job if it means being out of a job. No, I know what you mean and your reasoning, but I still would go after him and beat him. Oscar and Tyson were the biggest gravy trains since SRL. You beat the man, you are the man kind of way. Look, if he did not take the Mosely fight who knows how his career would have developed not mentioning his pockets. So could you imagine him taking the fight and beating Oscar on HBO/PPV? Who knows, we could all be wrong as to why the fight did not really happen.

I mean isn't it a given that anytime a big star completely low balls a potentially dangerous opponent like Winky, they aren't really serious in wanting to fight this guy to begin with? Same with Hopkins low ball offer to Adamek. It was just a way to save face for Hopkins and say he tried to make a fight when in reality, he was never serious.

DLH never wanted to fight Winky. He just wanted to save some face because this fight made all the sense in the world around 04-05 and had DLH not even negotiated, he would've been criticized.

Winky Wright was offered $6 million dollars to fight Oscar De la Hoya. He was also offered a percentage on the back end if the fight exceeded a certain amount of buys but he declined saying that the offer or rather the guarantee was too low. It was a real offer that if Wright had taken he would have gotten the fight. He declined.

He was offered $5 million to rematch Taylor, he declined not because he didn't like the money it's because he didn't want Taylor getting the bigger share.

He wasn't ducked. He was given offers and opportunities, he took advantage of some but squandered some of the other ones.

Incidentally, he's never received another offer in his career that exceeded that of De la Hoya's offer against anyone.

Except Winky has a HISTORY of finding a way to not make the "big fights" happen.

Are you ****ing serious? Think in the long term. Not just the immediate pay off. Oscar might have been the company paying only 25k but what you learn there and the benefits top that 100K.

I don't understand how a man who finds a way to price himself out of all the important fights gets labeled as the ducked instead of the ducker.

Okay, can anyone show proof of floyd trying to fight winky?? I know he called winky out but was only saying it to keep his name floating around. Floyd wanted no part of Winky. Why would he want to go against the 2nd best active defensive fighter? Too tough of a fight for floyd. And Winky didn't turn down the rematch with Taylor because of money, he turned it down because he said he had a feeling it would turn out the same way and he could beat taylor all day and not get the win.

Winky turned down the second fight become of money because he felt that Taylor shouldn't be entitled to the bigger share since he felt that he won the first fight. Wright wanted 50/50 despite Taylor being the champion.

As for Shaw last month turning down $6-million (plus $6 per pay-per-view buy above 600,000 homes) to fight Oscar De La Hoya ?

"He offers everyone else $10, 15-million," Wright said, referring to the $10-million Felix Trinidad got for beating De La Hoya in 1999. "I ain't doing it."

If I had more time I'd do more research I just have somewhere to be but Winky went from being ducked to being offered fights and ironically by the time he decided to get business minded it was inopportune because he missed out on paydays that could have enhanced his legacy.
