Mexicans generally are getting punched by smaller men... toughness a bit overrated.

Two of the toughest guys of all time -- Hagler , Lamotta ... from the US

Oh Im sorry , if by TOUGHFEST you mean the ability to resist punches with out a care for defence ( in other words : being a human punching bag ) then Cubans aren't , only MEXICANS can do it, so it goes like this :

    (1) Mexico
    (2) Mexico
    (3) Mexico
    (4) Mexico
    (5) Mexico

( I could go on and on and on ..... )

The best combination can occur anywhere but more likely in areas that offer more hybrid vigor, lots of children playing hard, working hard, and hard experiences. Ancient warrior ancestry can play a part but most scientific evidence points to grandparents and parents playing the larger roles in fighting. Aggression, experience, competitiveness, physical ability, care giving, and spiritual tendencies etc....are definitely passed on to children. Interestingly, it seems that in boxing that these parental effects or ancestral phenotypic plasticity are often observed as much or more in offspring of parents that have suffered more severe beatings than those of more successful fighters. A vast number of variables can come into play here including finances, love/care/, neighborhood, parental compatibility etc.. For instance, one fighter may spoil his child or over protect him or be to busy to spend quality time. A fighter could simply have passed on more fight phenotypes due to more stress hormones being released in his body. Care giving has also been found to actually make offspring stronger and more daring than offspring who receive less care.

Mexico hands down. It's a way of life. Pride is everything for a Mexican. Even the national anthem is compiled of war lyrics. It is literally a disgrace to walk away from a fist fight. ****, I learned how to street fight cause of my mom. She would tell me not to take any crap from anyone and always be first to swing. Just a way of life for us Mexicans. No lie.
