Was watching the Cotto - Mosley fight when Manny Steward said Shane isn't a big puncher. What's your view on this? I always thought he was a big puncher. Is there anyone that doesn't? If so, state your reasons? He has a 72% K.O rating. So i was kind of confused as to what Manny was saying. Maybe someone can enlighten us with their opinion.
Above average but he's an accumulative puncher. Not saying he can't deck guys or stun guys with one punch but he's not a fighter that gets opponents out cold with just one shot. He's known for accumulation. His shot over Gomez was scary but he used many, many good shots in order to get to that point. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnWUuhfgJKQ[/ame]
You're welcome and it was a great punch. He's heavy handed but gives big punishment before getting guys out.
I think shane is a big puncher only when hes able to make his shots count, against mayorga he looked so ugly that it wasnt until the end when he started to really hurt mayorga that he knocked him out.
techks voicing my thoughts word for word. Can't disagree with him. Look at Shane's earlier fights, he goes to the body well, throws combinations and eventually gets the stoppage. If you look at Shane now he goes for the one big shot, which works against fights where he can land that one big shot often, but not too well when he can't land often. The fact he stopped throwing those incredibly fluid and quick combinations took something from his offensive arsenal. I sometimes feel like Shane fell in love with his own athletic beastness and was more content to show off his power with that one big overhand right, again and again and again. None the less the guy is capable of stopping fighters even with this change in offense. So yes he is a big puncher but he isn't the reincarnation of Max Baer.
I would say yes BUT he isn't the Monster puncher his record shows, he is NOT the type of guy that wll end a fight in the first 90 seconds or just with 1 punch, he has good power but not Julian Jackson/ Hearns/ McClellan type, those guys could take you out at anytime.
He was a pretty big puncher at 135, just above average at 147. Has some decent KO's at 147 and 154, but nothing like 135. I have felt in the last 5 years he fell way too in love with his power and quit boxing.
Oh my god off course he is a good puncher, a big puncher if you asked me, The question is if He is a big puncher or not, In other words the question is if mosley has power or not, OFF COURSE HE DOES
Not a one-punch killer, but he's a banger for sure. Not the type you want to be hit by continuously...ask Tony.
He was devastating at 135. At 147 and above he only knocks our shot fighters , Marg , Yorga and Vargas. Winky actually laughed at his punches.
I think he is a big puncher, but I also think his power gets overrated sometimes because he rocked Floyd in their fight. I see him as really being heavy handed, and one of the strongest puncher at welterweight right now, but not really a huge puncher as some (and probably himself) seem to think.
Lol he did say he was a "powder puncher" or something like that but that was at 154, his weakest weight class.
Both his hooks are powerful, especially the right one. straight right and his uppercuts aren't that hard.
