Love jumping rope, I was always pretty good, the gym stops to stare BUT Floyd, while we do the same tricks, doesn't have the spastic quality of my skipping, and I think I flub a bit more. He just looks smooth, I just look very fast and a bit awkward and uncoordinated in my jumping

about 30 or 40 seconds in I think the jumping is better quality, the beginning is kind of lame river dance looking bs. see 1:55 for the one legged doubles

BUT Floyd is way better, I just feel like he doesn't quite attack it like an explosive exercise as I do.

I'm going to have to try single-legged double unders. I've never even thought of doing that nor have I seen anyone do them. Thanks for that.

Thats a pretty good routine mate....the thing is...Floyds doing it more for the footwork....your doing it more as a training aid for building your legs and cardio.... (yeh i know floyd'd doing cardio....but he probably does the whole roadwork etc so this is just a minor part, and mainly for the footwork). I found this lad on youtube....does a half decent attempt at Mayweathers routine:

He's doing a real good job of avoiding the rope.

You pretty good man! The thing is when you do it while you look better than me and probably 99% of people who can skip you still look a little stiff and as if you are trying while floyd looks so relaxed and balanced.

Yeah its weird after a little he looks pretty good, its just completely more placid and relaxed than the way I do it, which looks, I admit 100 times more wild.

The lack of upper body movement while they are doing it trips me out, I don't know if I could even skip effectively without that big huge windup to my arms. And yep, i agree, completely different purposes.

It feels like this particular guy is tricky with the rope but not quick with the actual jumping.

(analogy: I used to train a little with a guy who juggled profesionally, and in his act I thought, wow, what reflexes. Amazing! But he was just good at that particular repetitive controlled motion, even when he would toss five clubs in the air or have another juggler throw stuff at him, it was timed and controlled, his reflexes to attack and defend where about ten times slower than mine, it was just a regular kind of coordination his body was used to for the juggling, completely not applicable to fighting. If I tried to juggle the crap would fly everywhere, and I could catch a few but then I would be running all over the place and they would all fall, because I was too spastic, irregular, uncontrolled in my motions, just like the jump rope) Floyd has PRECISE control over all his body mechanics. I am actually not that impressed with Pac's jump rope, I thought it would be really intense, if not as smooth as Floyd's, because he seems like a guy with that really fast twitch spastic kind of kinetic predisposition (and we both have really big calves for little guys).

I agree completely, even though its an exercise that shows great coordination .... I still wind up looking uncoordinated with my body mechanics. weird, huh?
