Damn, this kid is something. Excellent footwork, and some rounds he was toying with Oleydong. He had Oleydong missing a lot with his punches. Cant wait to see more of him

    Kindergarten fights? :think

Do you mean the lower weight divisions (<147, which are the absolute best in boxing, hands down) or do you mean that you don't like watching guys so early in their development as Ioka was? (ie 6-0 and already challenging for - and securing - a world title)

    Well, he's certainly world-class.

Sithsamerchai never did look invincible, but he's a real brainteaser in the ring and IMO a legitimate titlist (at least, not a paper champ...maybe cardboard :D).

Either statements would be quite rubbish if you like boxing. Degale doesnt have many fights under his belt either.. and yes the lower weight classes have ALL the talent. Featherweigh is stacked, Junior Welterweight is stacked, Bantamweight is beyond stacked..

Yeah. I guess if you only enjoy watching heavyweights with 40+ fights under their plus-size belts...erm, have fun with your Tye Fields and Vinny Maddalones? :!:

Impressed by the japanese. Some of them are young and hope to see some of them in weightclasses European and Amerikans fight 122-126. Time-differences may do it difficult to match japanses against europeans and USA fighters. No way fans of both fighters can watch a fight live if they are working.

Wonder if this Ioka is any relation to Hiroki Ioka (former Minimum and Lt. flyweights Champ) and also from Osaka) who was trained Eddie Townsed (sp?), one of the first (perhaps very first) foreign trainers who lived in Japan. Eddie was old and dying by the time Ioka had his first title bout and was so ill no one thought he could work the corner.

Eddie was brought to the fight on a stretcher (perhaps wheelchair it's been so long) from the hospital and was giving Ioka instructions between rounds. Ioka won the title and Eddie passed shortly thereafter.

I remember reading he was his nephew or son or something like that.

Had you seen him before? He seems well-disciplined for such a young fighter.

The April 8th Japanese triple titlie card looks amazing

Hozumi Hasegawa vs. Jhonny Gonzalez (has WAR written all over it)
Takahiro Ao vs. Humberto Mauro Guttierez
Toshiaki Nishioka vs, Maurcio Javier Munoz (the MAN at SBW gets to show the world why he's the best)
