is it sad that Carl Froch is probably a couple fights away....

Fact is Boxing isn't a sport about just talent. A huge part is mental and at both level's Am and Pro Carl's mixed with the best and held more then his own. The guy may not be best technically but he has a will and a way and gets job done.

I don't see it as sad. He's type of guy kids can look to and see a man who wants it real bad can get what he wants!

 

mandanda covered it in his first post, boxing isn't just about talent, froch is one of those one of a kind fighters, he isn't the fastest guy around but he uses what he has to the best of its ability, he'll fight anyone.

 

How's it sad? If anything, it's admirable that a fighter that is lacking in technical proficiency to the degree he is could become one of the greats from a country that has produced some excellent fighters. I know I'm not British/English, but if I was there is no way that I'd find it sad. It's one of his best attributes, certainly his most likeable.

 

I respect that mate and yeah this is why i've always rated Froch the man wants to be a legend. He cares about his fans and will lay his blood in the ring. He may of disrespected Calzaghe to some but to me he wanted to wage war and make a name and i respect any guy that wants to take out the top guy. He's what boxing is about.

Although what guys did Lewis duck? or not pursue?

i understand thats a long shot but hes in reach and i for one am over the mooon to see it , carls a top bloke and his run of fights over the last 2 years have been nothing short of remarkable

Why are so many people taken in by Froch?

He's never beaten a reigning champ.

His last two opponents were coming off losses.

His next opponent is 42-YEARS-OLD.

Not one of his last 5 fights have been voluntary - he's had to fight them.

The only prime fighter he's faced is Abraham.

 

Many fighters nowadays don't beat reigning champions because of the joke's with titles. Cotto being one until Foreman fight.

He has no choice in the matter. Johnson is still a threat even at 42 and fact is if he beats him it's another world class operator on his list.

 

Once his career has finished and the dust has settled, Froch will be rated accordingly among the British greats. And I highly doubt he'll be amongst the top tier from this country, let alone our greatest ever.

 

Who has beaten no one of note at super middle I am not a fan of Calzaghe but he would beat him decisively.

 

Threat against who? Allan Green? You and I could beat Green.

Omar Sheika beat Johnson 11 years ago. Calzaghe smashed Sheika 3 months later.

Johnson has never had a prime, he's a glorified journeyman who cannot end his career until he's achieved enough. Sadly he's not content with close calls against Dawson and Cloud.

Yet I do think he'll trouble Froch. Well at least he'll come to fight unlike AA.
