On a H2H basis he could beat anyone (mabye not Gomez though). I don't recognise too many names on his resume though. Obviously bs draw with Nelson was one hell of a achievemnt. Good fighters in Zaragoza, Martinez and Villasona. What about the other guys he beat? How good were the champions he beat?

    Thanks

Payakaroon was a big name at the time, and a very talented fighter (ex-Muay Thai, one of the best of all time in that sport). Unfortunately he'd ceased to take boxing very seriously by the time Fenech got to him. Had a very short run in the sport because of it. I doubt he'd have ever beaten Fenech, though.

He also beat Zarate, of course. Not that it was worth much as a win, considering Zarate had recently come off a 6-year retirement and was no longer even world class.

i was watching fenech vs george navarro just the other day and the tv comentators were saying that navarro was badly weight drained and they mentioned that payakaroon to was badly weight drained. i also saw fenech's fight with greg richardson the same day, richardson was giving away quite a bit of weight for a tittle fight at one of the smaller weights. i like watching fenech a brawler who if he had had a suspect chin would of been in trouble as he did not always think of defence and got himself a little square on at times

Thanks interesting stuff. See ive heard of guts like Zaragoza and Martinez through Morales and JCC fights but its hard to find fights of guys like George Navarro etc as they obviously aren't in high demand.

fenech said after the fight that navarro had hurt him a couple of times and was a gracious winner . navarro said that the weight had beaten him and inferred that he did not think fenech would of won had it not been for his weight troubles. for me fenech would of won anyway, i really like fenech as a fighter strong, relentless, brave and a great heart to fight as he did with such bad hands

  6. fenech beats everyone h2h of all time around that weight he was a machine. he belongs up there with duran leonard and hagler and if he was american everyone would think it

every person in america = nuthuggers to american fighters

He beat up Callejas, Payakroon and Zaragoza. Three tough men who Fenech dominated and walked right through. Theres no doubt that Gomez would have to go through hell and back to beat Fenech.

IMO Fenech is a little underrated, i have him higher than most and i consider him an atg... IMO the best fighter ever from Australia(higher than Russian-Aussie Tszyu)..... Seems like people forget he started at bantam.. He was a beast especially at the lower weights, and Physically over powered those guys and one of the most relentless fighters ive ever seen.,,,, Some say he had a shaky chin but imo not until he was older and on the downside or washed up............ IF he had a bad chin he would have been dropped or kod with his style, because he fought some big punchers and in his prime only the hard hitting Mario Martinez dropped him and that was at lw.... Some other big punchers he faced were Aumah(robbed in first fight), Villasana,Callejas,Payakurun and Zarate(he was washed up). ...... After the 1st Nelson fight he seemed to just get old overnight.

At Bantam he overpowers most who ever fought there.... At JF he is one of the greatest.. Id only make Gomez a slight favorite... Barrera pickem.. Id make him a slight favorite over Morales... AT Fw he was still very good easily beating Marcos Villasana,Victor Callejas 2 very good fighters... Id have to put him in my I would probably rank him between as a top 60-70 atg.

I think he has ya there anarci...I bet if we dredged up everytime you said a fighter was in that range it would be far more than 10.

Fenech's talent and in the ring ability dont match his actual achievements though...he is a hard guy to rank in that regard.
