Of your list, Langford has a chance against Dempsey & Johnson.

Tyson would obliterate him within a round.

Lewis is vastly superior H2H than both Klits, & almost as tall, so i don't see why you're questioning him.

I think that's the kind of under-rating janitor is talking about.

Langford's up there with the best.

Well, it's going to be a tough fight for both guys. Two fierce skilled punchers but both were very durable too. So it would go many more than one round.

Hard to say to be honest.

Langford was never counted out untill verry late in his career when he was prety shot. He probably faced more top heavyweight punchers than Tyson.

Of course like Tyson he wasnt easy to hit flush in his prime.

Do you feel comfortable with Tyson having a 35lb weight advantage?

I like Mike but I don't see him taking out Langford in a round. It would be an interesting fight where either guy could win but I wouldn't rule a Langford tko victory out of the question.

Yes but Tyson faced the bigger punchers - and with that I mean size not power. And Tyson is bigger than Langford too. I wonder what role this would play. Langford was used fighting bigger guys but was Tyson used fighting smaller guys? There are quite a few small guys who had more trouble with smaller than bigger guys.

It could happen. Size/weight disadvantage or not Langford had plenty of power.

When supremely conditioned, Tyson never got tired, including when Ruddock broke 3 of his ribs with devastating body punching during their 12 rounds of brutal war. Plus, he recovered from flush monstrous bombs of Ruddock, Tucker, Bonecrusher & Bruno (who all hit harder than Langford) literally within a second. Add to that the super elusive headmovement which made him extremely hard to hit cleanly at his Peak....

Yet you think Langford could stop him, because "he has plenty of power"?

Personally, i find the idea of an aggressive, 185lb fighter, taking it to Tyson & winning...downright ludicrous.

What makes you think that Ruddock, Tucker, Bonecrusher & Bruno hit harder than Sam Langford?

If they did then I can guarantee you thathe was a better finisher than any of them.

Its like saying that Tyson would be able to take shots from Joe Louios bnecause he took them from these guys.

Sam weighed around 200 pounds for his filmed 20 round win over Jeanette in Paris which we've all watched. He was absolutely a heavyweight. Joe made some good use of his 5'10" height, reach and speed in that one, enough to satisfy me that a peak Ali would have taken a handy decision over Sam. Jeanette also was stopped only twice in 165 bouts, and Langford was the only man to do it after Joe passed the developmental stage. Jeanette could take a shot, but Sam dropped him at least three times on film, and maybe over a dozen times or more in all 14 of their bouts together. Langford-Jeannette X is a great film to study when analyzing both.
