The Lauri performance was his poorest to date, but I think you are judging McCloskey far too harshly on one display. The Italian is a notorious spoiler. At this stage of his career, McCloskey has proven that he is at least European level, but he has not had the chance to show if he can handle world class opposition. He may well fall short, but I am not sure you can make a judgement either way based on his results so far. Khan still takes risks offensively and McCloskey, if he does not freeze, could make it a decent fight.
Demostrate some skills and a performance which indicate he is of that level, instead of what does currently which is good domestic/ fringe Euro.
Khan didnt do well against mallinaggi like the khan posse make out, he was raggid as hell for the first 6 rounds, missing with shots and looking wild, if he does the same **** against maccloskey he's finished this isnt an easy fight at all, theres so many things khan does wrong the mallinaggi fight and miadana fight highlight this he really needs to put allot work in ironing out certain things. 1. developing some inside game, 2. learning to fight off the back foot 3. uses more head movement 4. blocking uppercuts these are just a few of the things iv noticed
Khan may get tagged with a few crisp hard shots, Mccloskey is a good counter puncher and has abit of sting in his shots, I see Khan winning this thoe, but the later it goes on it may end up a real test for king Khan.
This whole thread about McCloskey is funny, while i agree this is not just a simple fight for Amir Khan, but I will not say this is a test for Khan. Rather its a hard test for Closkey, he will need to bring his A game to the table and work hard. Amir Khan has much more experience, skills and everything else. KHAN by TKO 6 round.
If Paul can take Khans best than Khan is in big trouble as Paul has one punch KO power which Khan hasnt as he usually stops people with accumulation and speed.
I think McCloskey will love this fight to go into the later rounds, I think Khan maybe quite vulnerable in this part of the fight. I have watched quite a few McCloskey fights and he definately is no push over and has impressed me with some sharp counter punching, there the worst shots for Khan because he wont see them coming. Khan should not underestimate McCloskey I think a few people on ESB will be suprised after this match. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGyzlOMEg1U[/ame]
Roach's interview over at Scene (Focuses more on Pac-Sugar) Here's a brief mention of fight and his thoughts on 'Dudey'
Khan Is going to be way to quick and to experience and ring smarts for paul this won't even be good target practice for khan.
Cheers, Mand. Was just watching McCloskey. I really like his style. It's that really cocky type of style, which I enjoy watching. If McCloskey had fought tougher opposition in the early part of his career, I believe he could have been something very, very good. I think Khan will be too much for him, though.
