a shame maybe...but rico i dont think it quite qualifies as Cowardly?
he was 36 when he retired. had 46 fights.

It was a damm shame for us boxing fans. In a way he robbed us of seeing him in against some seriously dangerous opponents. But i think at 36 yrs old 46 fights hes allowed to decide when he retires :good

***** Mayweather is letting Pac take out all the danger men. Calzaghe was late 30's he couldn't stick around to fight all those young guns.

None of the guys underlined had accomplished anything to make them a possible opponent at the time Calzaghe retired. They were all either prospects, or (in Green's case) a nobody.

    Floyd is not finished.
    Lewis owed Vitali nish.
Calzaghe while having a over-hyped resume and ending his career in rather a **** way, i don't think he ended it like a coward.
On the whole i'd hardly call any fighter cowards besides Audley and Dirrell.

Calzaghe had just beaten Kessler in his career best win followed by a scrappy win over Hopkins. This is after about a good decade of fighting more or less nobodies.

BHop called him out for a rematch, Calzaghe didnt want it and went after RJJ.

BHop called on a rematch again, Calzaghe didnt want it.

Froch called for a fight Calzaghe didnt want. So did Chad Dawson.

Calzaghe didnt want it and retired on 5th Febuary 2009 saying he accomplished everything.

    Then went and sniffed coke.

    Thats a coward ending.

I generally agree with all except Lewis
He was clearly past it when fighting Klitschko but still won the fight. Him retiring was a smart move considering his former best was no more, its just being smart to be honest. Nobody liked fighting past their best

Still Lennox stepped in the ring with a younger Vitali when lennox was coming to the end of his career. Regardless Lennox is a legend.
