Ahhh, a post more indicative of personal hatred than the actual definition of 'coward'.

    Well done, 'RealSoulja'.

Naseem Humpty Dumpty Hamed is top of the list for me.

Hamed was my answer. Not because he necessarily ducked anyone but he basically found out he wasn't invincible and quit because of it.

I'm no Calzaghe fan, as i've said i think he is over-rated. I agree after his win over Kessler the rest of his career was dissapointing. What happened was he chased the £££ against faded greats, and after a long career you can hardly blame him.
Regarding a B-Hop rematch, while Hopkins was obviously asking for one after being beaten so closely on points (i thought B-Hop sneaked it), i don't think it was something that really was mentioned and pushed for as much as you make out. Joe stated from the off he was'nt really interested has he thought Hopkins was a dickhead (Joes words).
When it comes to Froch you've got to remember that Carl was'nt the name he is now, and Calzaghe never really entertained any idea of fighting him. Not because he was a coward but because it did'nt make much sense to him.
I agree the end of Joe's career was dissapointing, infact nearly all his career was dissapointing, but i don't think i'd ever see him as a coward. That's my opinion.

I think it's the way he was pretty much humiliated by MAB that sealed it. Had he fought the good fight, even losing and then called it a day, I wouldn't have considered him cowardly. But that he kept on saying that he'll be back and will be a legend blah blah afterwards and then fight a boring match in London afterwards then disappeared - remember, like Hatton, I don't think he's ever officially announced that he'd retired back always said he'll be back - it was pretty much a cowardly move, as he said he would like to rematch MAB. Ha!

It is a **** thread because believe it or not, once achievement has been made and the bank balance is full, who wants to takes punches and why should they for ****sake.Except David Haye who isn`t achieving anything at heavyweight when he retires in 10months.

Hopkins shamed himself in the fight with Calzaghe first time round holding faking low blows, he was racist in the build up and was very un-entertaining, the fight did'nt do good ppv numbers.......
Keep in mind b hop ducked calzaghe in 2002 and you would see quite clearly why Calzaghe would'nt want to give him a rematch.

Pavlik just got whooped by Hopkins.....

Dawson could not sell a ticket to his own mother hence why he had to give away free tickets to his 1st tarver fight to try and get some atmosphere also nobody in the UK has ever heard of him other than hardcore boxing fans.

Pascal was a nobody at the time when Calzaghe retired.
    Same with Ward......
    Same with Dirrell

Taylor was finished and had lost 2 of his last 3

    Allan Green are you serious???

Johnson had just been beat by Dawson and was coming off a win over the mighty Aaron Norwood 26-10

Tarver had just been beat pretty clearly by Dawson.

    Cloud was a nobody....

Erdei had a good looking record but he was unknown and his level of competition at this point of his career shows this De andrey abron 15-1
    Yuriy barashian ???

Arthur Abraham was a middleweight Calzaghe was a light heavyweight .

Carl Froch was not considered world class at the time.

**** man, take the old man version of mosley out of that equation and he has been avoiding, or lets just say, choosing not to fight the best of his era....he could have retired 3 to 5 years ago and and his legacy would be tarnished because hes been fighting cra[ fights about 1 time every 13 months for 5 years

Exactly. Joe stated in his autobiography that Roy was a shot fighter yet decides to fight him and retire? How you can even defend this guy. Frank Warren mentioned he was a big ***** too.

dumbass outlooks like yours is the reason guys get away with it...but to abswer your question..at one time, boxers just wanted to fight the best just to say i can and i will kick your ass....not neat up on has beens for 5 years and saying any of the elite fighters arent bringing anything to the table...floyd is just a cancer on boxing and a sign of the time...."i will fight anyone, im the best, i want to fight the best" but behind the scenes...trying to figure out how to legitimise a fight with a guy that fought 4 weight classes below him just 3 years ago...and on top of that is 36-37 and unheard of for a guy that size to be doing what he was doing..thats like 50 for a heavyweight

Jones Jr was coming off 3 wins and looked pretty good in those fights, but above all he was a big name.
