    Sad day for the sport.

He is not shot but he does seem noticeably slower on his feet. Overeem would have obliterated him in the first round.

    I agree.

In order to beat these much bigger guys - he has to have 30% more skill etc. than they do.... and now he may only be 20% better than them.... and that is not enough to outweigh the size difference.

    Hang them up Fedor.

Now there may be another 10-20-30 years untill we see anyone close to Fedor again.

Dana is a POS but in all fairness to him, Fedor wouldnt cut it with some of the HWs that the UFC has now like JDS and Cain. These are now second generation fighters, bigger, faster, stronger, and technically sound.

You're expecting class from Dana White?

What a ****ing jealous *****. He wishes he had Fedor. He's so bitter because he knows Strikeforce's heavyweight talent shits on UFC's. Brock Lesnar wouldn't last against anyone in that tournament. Well, maybe against a shot Arlovski.

They're actually quite one dimensional... Cain doesn't submit...JDS doesn't know what low and mid kicks are... (powerful striker though). Cain has great wrestling but apart from that ?

Antonio Silva (who everyone said was a "can"...is a black belt in jiujitsu and even bigger than these two)... Barnett is more complete as a fighter too. (can wrestle , strike , submit)...JDS's fight vs Nelson "big country" says it all. (though Nelson is far from being a can too..)

Not at all, Fedor was a legend of "his" time. Much like Matt Hughes was for a shorter time. Fighters caught up to them. You now have guys like GSP who shows no weakness, a guy like Bones Jones who leapfrogs someone in the cage, JDS who has faster hands than some WW, Aldo whos right out of the matrix movies.

Its a new world out there. The sad thing about this is that those who are new to MMA and with the UFC bias would never appreciate what a fighter Fedor truly was.

Fedor is the Muhammed Ali of MMA...

And this is his time to say farewell. Right now.

Personally, I'm happy the way it ended. It wasn't the most ideal of situations, but if Overeem got his hands on him, there'd be many more tears.

I'm not here to defend Dana, who once again proves to be a classless piece of ****, but I think Valasquez beats just about everyone in the tournament. Overeem's size might prove problematic, but I still think Valasquez could take him down. And that's just objective observation, not UFC nuthugging (which isn't what I do).
