Silva wouldnt last a round against a guy like JDS. Werdum found that out and was primarily the fight that got him a one way ticket out of the UFC. He got destroyed.

 

Fedor still went out there like a warrior. He didn't do no pirouettes.

What an idiot White is. He has 2 guys that could compete in this Tournament and his favorite pet Lesnar would only be favored over Arvlovski.

 

I agree. Velesquez had no problem taking a man the size and the pedigree of Lesnar down. He'll take Overeem down instantly and pound him out. Cain is a relentless unbelievably conditioned guy. Plus he has elite wrestling, thats more than half the battle right there.

 

Exactly. Elite wrestling makes all the difference. I'm not much of a fan of Valasquez...but he's a damn good fighter. His skill set would make him a terrible opponent for just about everyone in the SF tourney.

 

Getting Overeem to the ground and keeping him there is a big ask though, as if outstriking him on his feet.

I'd see that more of a 50/50 fight myself, winnable by both.

 

No doubt. The way Overeem tossed Rogers around who enters the cage at about 280 and Reem threw him around like he was a Ragdoll. It was sick.

 

Remember the beanpole Overeem that Chuck Liddell knocked out and Shogun decimated twice? He's come a little ways since then, eh? Now he's some huge, roided up freak. He's sort of like Super Shredder from Ninja Turtles II.

 

Rogers is a big guy, no doubt, but he's not exactly a high-level wrestler.

 

Actually if you count the two times Chael knock Silva on his ass. Then keeping him down for 4 1/2 rounds, he actually dominated him just about the same if not more. Silva is just a wrestler away that can defend subs from starting his own little losing streak.

 

So what about Anderson? he started MMA a long time ago too and he's older than Fedor!! , yet the man is without question the pound for pound champ today!!, the generation issue shouldn't be an excuse!!, the fact is Fedor's game always had holes in it but no-one was good enough to exploit them, it's like Mike Tyson, blasted everyone away and had the same aura Fedor had, but when he met Hollyfield his deficiencies were there for all to see.

Fedor minus a few years would win. He's as complete as these 'new breed' heavies, just a little shopworn.

I mean, it's not like he got clipped and sparked. He got out of the two rounds. The noticable decline started against Brett Rogers but I now know I have been in denial about it.

He's done, and The Reem woulda beat him. Silva was getting tired though, anyone reckon Fedor, a true great, should've been allowed to go back out??

 

Div 1 level top hw wrestlers are used to throwing guys as big and strong as overeem everyday at practice.
