Corrales - Casamayor II. 114-114! Had it all riding on the 12th and couldn't split them. No significant arguments with any of the judge's cards.

    Holy-Tyson I

    This content is protected

I scored it despite the TKO ending.

1: 10-9 Tyson: Tyson comes out looking to take his head off, throwing nukes. The titanium chin of Holy stands the test, he isn't going anywhere & it's going to be a long night.

    2: 10-9 Holyfield

    3: 10-9 Tyson

    4: 10-9 Holyfield

5: 10-9 Tyson: Holy starts strong with sharp combinations, but Tyson fights back with atomic bombs, hurting him with a huge overhand right & soon after with a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the chin. Holy holds, the referee breaks them & Tyson hurts him again with a stomach-churning right hook to the body. Following this, Holy grapples him very tightly, then showing his incredible powers of recuperation, he comes back well in the second half.

6: 10-8 Holyfield: A fast start by Tyson, but Holy quickly starts wrestling him onto the ropes. Holy makes Tyson slide across the canvas, by timing him with a huge left uppercut to the Solar Plexus when he was off-balance.

    7: 10-9 Holyfield

    8: 10-9 Holyfield

    9: 10-9 Holyfield

10: 10-9 Holyfield: Tyson gets a second wind, despite being gassed for the previous few rounds & mostly controls the first 2:30mins of the round, landing many clean bombs, but Holy appears "armour plated" to their titanic impacts. Holy is fighting back & lands two great timed counters (a hard jab & full power right hook) as Tyson came in with a left hook. Tyson is rocked by this & Holy jumps on him with brutal combinations. Tyson throws all his weight into an overhand right, falling into it, but Holy moves his head & catches him with a full force perfect counter left hook. Staggering to the ropes as if he was shot by a .44 Magnum, Tyson is battered by more brutal combination punching.

11: Holy wins via TKO, as the referee saves the reeling, completely exhausted Tyson from being further brutalised by hard combinations .

Total for the 10 rounds prior to stoppage: 7-3, 97-92 Holyfield.

Ultimately Holy won by countering Tyson to death as he fell forward with wild headhunting haymakers, using vicious combinations & constantly wrestling him onto the backfoot towards the ropes.
Physically, mentally & technically he was the better fighter here, & thus truly deserved his great victory.

"His opponent had been cast as the epitome of evil, the sinister slugger, a ****** recently released from 3 years in prison." ~ Holyfield: Beyond the Glory.

I watched a couple of the "World Series" fights last night.

Can't remember the fighters names but the loser was a Mexican & it sounded like Florian or Florantine. I thought he was robbed outrageously.

Anyone know which fight I mean?

Sugar Ray Leonard vs Marvin Hagler

    rd 1 - 10/9
    rd 2 - 10/9
    rd 3 - 9/10
    rd 4 - 10/9
    rd 5 - 9/10
    rd 6 - 10/9
    rd 7 - 9/10
    rd 8 - 10/10
    rd 9 - 10/10
    rd 10 - 10/9
    rd 11 - 10/9
    rd 12 - 9/10

    Leonard - 116 ... Hagler - 114

Rounds 8 and 9 were very close, if forced i would lean toward Hagler in round 8 and Leonard in round 9, making no difference to my scoring. Hagler just didn't get enough work done.

Easy:yep go watch it again with the volume lower so chopping out the the adoring pro Leonard commentary & you'll score the fight even wider. One of the greatest victory's off all time. He out-boxed/out-thought/out-fought the bigger/stronger/fresher/younger alleged faster man in Leonard did'nt he & the shock on Leonards face is something to behold when Duran's speed of counters crash home:D

I had it 10/3/2 & even 10/5 is generous to Leonard. Duran would have always beaten Leonard on a true & level playing field & Leonard knew that & the truth of the matter is that Leonard never wanted to face Duran again & it was only Janks Morten that pursuaded Leonard about getting the re-match quick in New Orleans as he's seen Duran blow up into super sized pig celebrating hence November 80 instead of January81.

Incredible feat by a blown up Lightweight approuching 30 years of age & 71 fight career doing a number on the 24 year old P4P goldenboy of boxing:deal

Off all the great fights i've been privaliged to witness live this has to have been the most dramatic & pulsating storyboard fight of them all for me. Full of all the required tabloid ingredients what with the overtones of Good vs Evil, Lamb too the Slaughter, Miss-Match.

I could'nt believe my eyes as the rounds went by & along with the noise which intensified after 3 rounds seeing that was as long as it was expected to go. I always love too scan the crowd trying to imprint as much too memory as possible, but you always thought & were waiting for the Tyson axe to fall on Holyfield at any second until that 6th round when he put Tyson down & the MGM Areana went absolutly ****in ballistic.

I'll always recall the female's screaming hysterical with joy & all i could yell was "****in Hell-****in Jeezus" with my hands atop my head, i could not believe my eyes!!! Here was Tyson DECKED & all around me was an uproar of hysterical jubilation. The woman sat behind me was shrieking with joy at Tyson's imminant demise then suddenly it was cut short. I just chanced a half glance around & noticed she was weeping holding here bleeding nose as her boyfriend had whacked her one:yikes No doubt one of the plenty that got well & truly $$$$ ****ed at the bookies.

On a personal note during those split seconds after the KD in the 6th with the crowd chanting HOLYFIELD! HOLYFIELD! i felt a real pang of sympathy for Tyson as a man. Here he was like the gladiator who'd had the crowd but had now lost it & who now wanted his blood. I thought he must have felt the loneliest begotten riviled man on the planet at that moment with the whole arena screaming for his blood. I get these humanitarion moments ever so often, but thats one thing about American fight crowds, they'll spin on a dime:deal

Incredible night as all Tyson night were, great fight & it's got to be right up there with the biggest upsets going by the time. I forbade my gambling junkie wife to bet on Holyfield at 18/1:nono She did anyway as all i left her was $200 & she lumped it on Evander as it goes without saying that i never say a ****in DIME:fire All she could do is rant & rave at me saying what the **** did i know about boxing as she wanted to smack on $/2K on Evander (Of my money + she fancied the ****) & she would have done if i'd not emptied the safe.

I got Tyson to sign the poster just before the last presser in the MGM car park & he just signed right across Holyfield.

have to admit, the first time i watched it, i gave 10 rounds to duran. I've given more rounds to leonard subsequently but the most generous i could be is 6 rounds. my most "firm" score is 10/3/2 as well (though my tape cuts out round 15 so i have to rescore that one)

Sumbu Kalambay W12 Steve Collins - Good fight. I had it 8-4 Kalambay. Admittedly, I'm a Kalambay junkie. Collins started out pretty sharp, but as the fight progressed his land rate dropped dramatically. He was aggressive, but I wasn't seeing a lot of effective aggression. Kalambay really impressed me in this fight. He was defnitely on the downslide. His legs looked stiff at times. But even without his best trait, that great movement, he had enough craft to keep Collins at bay and largely ineffective. I could see it a little closer, but this is clear for Kalambay IMO.

Baby Luis W DQ7 Vicente Saldivar - Some were looking for enlightenment on this DQ on another thread. What the hell was this? Without sufficient explanation, this rivals Duran - Marcel as one of the more bizarre endings Ive seen.
As for the fight, nice contrast of styles. Luis seems to be in the Laguna, Marcel, Pedroza mode, but certainly a notch below that company. He knocked Saldivar down once, and maybe stunned him once around the 6th round, but I think Saldivar was starting to get to him at the time it was stopped.
