Ref asks him if he wants to continue, he says no, but acts all upset when the ref waves him up... But this time, the ref reverses his decision and asks him again if he wants to fight... And the boxer and ref become all confused because the Boxer doesn't want to continue, he was just acting like he wanted to continue and was stopped prematurely by the ref... LMAO

Hard to disagree when there's video evidence proving that statement... Come on... Purnell Gates was not a bum?! Even the commentator... What's his name... the ex heavy weight... Anyhow, he called Gates "a clown" (later in the show, not on linked vid)... Certainly can't call him a talented and experimented boxer...

I live and Montreal, and have to admit bums are all too often take part of boxing events... But again, it's not limited to canadian boxers, padding up a record is done everywhere, but this bum, Purnell Gates, takes the cake... It was horrible... Lemieux can certainly beat better opposition, but it might be hard to find more serious boxers willing to fight vs Lemieux...

It all but took one shot from Lemieux to have the bum quit... The 2nd 'knockdown' was Gate going down because he was afraid of eating another punch...

Did you not hear the crowd booing? It was pathetic... Seriously, what's the claim, that Gates was world class and those who don't admit it are sour grapes because Lemieux beat "Andy Lee"?
