Lenny's won back his British Title but isn't looking as good as he did prior to losing it to Morrison a few years back. It's a fight he can win but it's going to be real tight. If he can get going into that awesome rhythm then Theopane may have trouble. Daws workrate is top class and he's broken many opponents wills. He's fundamentally strong and basic. I trained with him as a kid...his workrate is world class.
Realistically its not as lopsided as the poll suggests. I'm not surprised a boxing forum has it like that because we know Theophane has picked up a lot of experience in America. He's been in tougher fights than Daws, even though Daws competition ain't bad, and he has that gym experience. Plus a horrible style to deal with. Actual UK bookmakers have Lenny the slight favorite so there we go...I wouldn't be that surprised if Daws outhustled him. Theophane has to be focused the whole fight not just for a few rounds or Daws will grind him down like he's done to so many.
We all know the Yanks can't hack our banter. :good Interesting fight this... don't think the poll represents the balance of the fight.
I have to admit i think more people would have gone with Daws though i like Theophane and he probably has been underrated in the past but is now getting a bit of recognition because of his work in the states.
I think Daws will win. Everyone underestimates Lenny, he's just keeps coming and never gives in. Everytime theopane has stepped up he has got beat!!!
It's a real pick'em fight. Daws will cause Theophane plenty of problems and vice-versa. The scorecards will be very close for this one :yep
Antcull see's it my way. Close on scorecards. Watching some of Theopane's recent bouts. I think Lenny can beat him but it's gonna be real tight. Theopane does some nice things and looks the part but he has awful habits. He has a slow as **** lead left hook that has the accuracy of a blind man pissing into a toilet bowl with on a boat. He gets hit because he doesn't move the head and his footwork sometimes when stepped to means he panics and just tries fullguard and shuffle away. I think Lenny needs to keep his shots straight and work through Theopane's seem then work over his guard. Theopane does some neat things but he's not fantastic in any area's and i think Lenny can work him to standstill. But Ashley will create problems for Lenny as well. I lean towards Lenny but as i mentioned...judges recently do not favor his work......
I think you're right Lenny doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I myself am not a huge fan of his so i can't say too much . The closer it gets the more I'm going with Daws. Like someone posted Theophane might be he own worst enemy in this fight. If he lets Lenny work and doesn't try and match him he could be finding himself on the wrong end of a close decision. Edit: I find it very strange judges seem to go against Lenny in the close fights usually in close rounds the guy with the highest activity takes it but not when Daws is fighting :think
Yeah that's what baffles me. I mean the Cook fight i had Lenny 4 up i think and a comfortable nights work in end. Yet a draw...then the Williams fight where i felt he won pretty much most rounds was close before the stoppage. I hope Lenny makes them sit up and take notice on Saturday Night. He's a good champion and isn't treating this as a ''tune'' up....which can't be said for Theopane.
I was conflicted and unsure of who to pick before starting this thread. After seeing some great breakdowns, debate, insight, etc., I remain conflicted and unsure of who to pick now. Probably more so come to think of it.
