You do realize that Billy Collins Jr was cleared to fight and had nothing wrong with him right? He suffered no permanent damage. His father would not allow him to fight for fear it would have them lose the lawsuit. Thats all Collins wanted to do was fight, which in turn since he could not, turned him into an alch, when in turn killed him.
I've watched it and it's great, but that sort of doc isn't for everyone. The major point I'd make is that you can't pin Collins' death on Resto. Yes, you can pin damage to his career on Resto, but the family handled it terribly and, let's be honest Collins wasn't much of a prospect despite the films protestation's to the contrary. Ring of Fire about Emile Griffith and Ricky Paret is better, IMO.
I agree, but that was pretty serious trauma to the eyes, so who's to say damage to his long-term potential (IMO, limited) wasn't done. But yeah, the argument that Resto sent Collins to his grave is bull****.

After losing two jobs in a short time after the fight, he began drinking heavily. His violent mood swings threatened his marriage. On March 6, 1984, he crashed his car into a culvert near his home in Antioch, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville. He was killed on impact. Many commentators, as well as Collins' family, believe that the loss of his livelihood broke him psychologically and that his death was a suicide.[1]
Hmm. In the documentary. It states that Collins was cleared to fight, I believe his wife even acknowledged it.
Seen it a while back. Tragic story. I can't believe Collins didn't feel the difference with an estimated 50% less padding involved. He had enough experience to suspect something was amiss, don't you think?
Yeah, I just wonder why in the hell his corner didn't act on it. Things would've turned out so much differently and this tragedy wouldn't have occurred. Sad stuff.
Terrible story! The lengths men will go to for glory and money!! I suppose some people on ESB will say that we shouldn't check gloves either as Resta had never been caught loading before! If there is a way to cheat, someone will find a way to use it no matter how immoral or low it is!
The hardest part to watch was when Resto was trying to visit the Collins house. I flipped the channel.
