To answer your actual question - obviously Barrera. Neither of them can beat any true top light welterweights, but Barrera could knock off a weak interim titlist with the true "top dogs" all busy fighting each other and/or moving up to 147. In contrast, Morales will struggle with anything higher than C level right now.

Right, and that's an especially good analogy because in both this case and that one there is one guy who is way more shot than his rival.

Barrera is Marquez here, and Morales is Vazquez. It would go down about the same, too.

Just because Morales has a date with Maidana based solely on the power of his name doesn't mean he's any closer to "reaching the top" than Barrera (who still has far more of his abilities intact) - unless you actually think Morales can win. :yep

I think Barrera has a little more left i think he is maybe a top 10 guy in the LW division or very close..... Morales would probably have his hands full or lose to a top 20 guy.
