I also think Hopkins will get his shot first leaving Dawson on the outside; Dawson has been inactive for a while waiting for Pascal; i read somewhere thet were negotiations for him to fight Tavoris Cloud or that Zsolt Erdei wants a shot at him; at this point Bute's team surely and normally does not plan ahead, but Showtime could do it for them; Dawson is following the money and if by march he has no engagement Showtime should lure him with a bag full of cash, this way justifying Bute's megacontract.
A clip made in a rush, still decent I think. Epic soundtrack. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNXVjdL3Sbc[/ame]
Dirrell wants Bute before the end of the year http://www.mlive.com/sports/flint/index.ssf/2011/02/interview_flints_andre_dirrell.html
Hey, be a little more flexible with my compatriot and our new collegue, here. It`s not am optimist one but will be soon.
Bute won`t win against the winner if will be Ward. It`s in New York, remember? Unless he will put Ward down. For American networks any fine champion is good. But an American one is...better.
Thanks! Dirrell is not very good in maths. He wants a tune up fight in three months, at the end of March! It seems Bute will have a serious potential fight with Dirrell early this fall, let's say September. If Kessler is not interested, he should wait for Dirrell in September instead of fighting anybody in June.
Interbox agreed with Showtime only one fight outside Canada which will be with the tournament winner. So, don`t be so enthousiastic. Larouche aknowledged they intend a match with Kessler until the end of the year. So, if Direll`s team won`t go in Canada will be no fight with the Romanian. Reasons: -Kessler lost only to Calzaghe and Ward, undefeated both;Direll lost to Froch (at least the record says it) and was pretty close to defeat in Abraham match also. -Kessler is WBC emeritus champion and has Bute`s age; -Beating Kessler Bute would indirectly challenge both Froch and Ward;Beating Direll he wouln`t challenge none of the other big SMW, not even Abraham. So this fight will be, if it will, AFTER that one big. Would you risk instead Bedard?
Yes I would risk facing Dirrell in USA. Bute has a 3 fights contract, it's the right time to take some risks. I acknowloedge that if he had the choice between Kessler and Dirrell at the same time (and it looks it could be that), Kessler would be a more appropriate choice.
You`re enthousiastic. We would all risk as sport viewers but Bedard said clearely he won`t risk. At the press conference after Bute-Magee anouncement Bedard, Larouche and Bute were very unhappy.Reason:were refused by both Sartison and Stieglitz. Now, there are two problems: 1.Kessler declared he was the first one having promised a fight with the tourney winner which can be also translated: I won`t fight you until then.Reason:negotiating terms. 2.Direll won`t come in Canada. My guess: The main purpose of Showtime-Contract is a fight Bute-Winner of the tournement. What wins Showtime:by three matches contract, the network avoids a high trend of check paid What wins Interbox:by three matches contract avoids the tension of losing one match until then. HOWEVER:A big part of the money is still linked by the PPV of Canada and mostly by the PPV of the big fight from US (cause I guess it will be).So, THERE STILL ARE FINANCIAL RISKS. I don`t want to ruin your optimism, but I have a non-pleasent hunch for you:If Direll won`t come and Kessler won`t fight Bute until the end of the tournement, BUTE HASA GOOD CHANCE TO NOT FIGHT EITHER KESSLER AND DIRELL BEFORE WARD. With a bigger offer they`ll look for Sartison and Stieglitz again. But there is a hope here : Showtime to not alow Kessler to fight Ward until he meets the Montrealer.
I may be enthusiastic but you're very pessimistic. I can understand why though, Bute's fans are waiting for a long time. BUT: when he signed, Bute thought he would face Kessler in March. Your theory about Interbox not wanting to take risks and Showtime only wanting Bute-super 6 winner is worth nothing then. Because both wanted Bute-Kessler right away. If Interbox and Showtime wanted Kessler, why wouldn't they want Bute-Dirrell? I know the way Kessler talked sounds like he doesn't want to face Bute before the end of the tournament. BUT, he's still under contract with Showtime and the network could have and probably will have a word on his next opponents. I disagree on your theory that Showtime wants Bute to face the super 6 winner. If Showtime liked Bute that much, they would have invited him right from the start. What Showtime wants is to crown the SMW king. They tried to do it without Bute, but it couldn't work. I'm pretty sure that Showtime doesn't give a damn if Dirrell beats Bute before the end. They'll have Dirrell-Ward as a super fight, which may be their real goal. That's just another point of view, of course.
If (and very probable) Bute defeats Magee, i think Showtime and Interbox will go star-hunting and never rest until they find a worthy opponent; this is too much, i think Brinkley and Magee are the same level as Kabary Salem, Bute's fourteenth match. Dirrell's image is at least detroyed, who would like to see him fight in U.S.? also, Quebec can provide much more cash.Thou i think this fight is probable to happen in US too, Interbox can impose judges with a good reputation. My fear is that if the star-hunt fails, Bute is going to want to please IBF and the romanian fans+government, and take Mendy in Bucharest. And this would be really depressing
I'll be pretty surprised if his next fight after this isn't Andre Dirrell. Dirrell has already been hinting at it in interviews. And if Dirrell is available, I doubt Showtime will approve anyone less.
