it was during the oscar fight when they forced-fed pac. give me a current article that they are still trying to force feed pac with 7500 calories for the margo fight. from what i have read, pacquiao is comfortable at welter (weighing 144-145 during weigh-ins) so as not to miss meals when fight day is coming and he would still have his breakfast before the weigh-in. in short they said he is more happy not to be draining or at least skipping meals when fight day comes.

He used the deadline, got everyone listening (including myself who stayed up until about 6-7 in the morning, and I'm assuming it was the same around the world)...people will have been expecting an announcement about the Mayweather bout (I was gullible enough to fall for it). But what was clear about the call was that from the little he knew about the negotiations, the Mayweather bout was pretty much not going to happen, and he probably knew this a couple of days leading upto the deadline. Yet he stills goes through with it, gets everyone listening...then drops Margarito's name from then on in.

He didn't need Mayweather's name to promote the Margarito v Pacquiao bout...but he took advantage of the situation to promote his own card.

As soon as Arum put up the deadline, I was suspicious that the bout would come off. He maybe even knew at that point that Mayweather wanted none of Pacquiao in November. Mayweather was never going to answer to Arum with that deadline, you've heard the bull**** Mayweather spouts also..."I'm my own boss!" etc. I wouldn't put it past Arum to put that deadline up just in case Mayweather got a change of heart and wanted the Pacquiao bout...Arum had already seen the potential of the Margarito bout.

whats the difference? jmm would not be bloating-up here since after hydrating in his fights, he is usually around 145 come fight night. the difference would be pac not dehydrating anymore. but come fight night they will weigh roughly the same.

You're a lemon, so there isnt a difference between someone naturally weighing 147, then someone eating their way upto 147 in your opinion.:patsch

If its not Mayweather, or one of the top guys at 140 (Bradley or Khan), I suppose JMM is the next best thing, but if its none of them, I really dont care about it then. Or I guess maybe Berto, though I think he should be last in line out of the available opponents.

so ok let me get this straight. arum should have never used "the negotiations" with floyd for the margarito fight when we all know that arum-greenburg and haymon are having some closed door negotiations for a potential pac-floyd fight in november or december? from what i understood, arum set-up the deadline after they learned that floyd has really no intentions of fighting. but arum did what he had to do to make the fight by negotiating with the right people in greenburg and haymon.

Arum knew shite all about the negotiations, he said that himself...people asked him questions and he couldn't answer them. I don't actually believe the negotiations got as far as people were claiming...they were probably hopeful more than anything.

Like I said, Arum already knew it wasn't going to happen...he didn't call Mayweather out, or insult him...he was very respectful and understanding, didn't really sound like him. He got fans excited, then promoted his own card which included the P4P#1 and a Top Rank fighter who had just come back from suspension, and had no license to fight in America.

    Arum talks bull**** nonstop.

well, wasn't there a media blackout when negotiations are happening that's why both arum nor GBP would not answer to media's questions? the closest we have to a news before was oscar saying that the negotiations are going very well and are close to being finalized. why would greenburg and haymon waste their time with arum if arum has no intentions of putting pac against floyd or at least skipping floyd for margo?

i know arum is a scumbag, but he would not pass on a big floyd-pac fight especially after having an all TR fight in pac-clottey the year earlier.

emmanuel and bob are clever. They condition people to have low expectations by giving fights like Clottey, marg, and Mosley. Then when they give someone a slightly better fight, people will be all over it as if it's the best one possible.

Arum put the media blackout up, but if you remember rightly...it got to a point were he was making a new statement everyday. This is probably when the negotiations fell apart. Oscar most likely said that to keep fans happy. I believe they did try to get Mayweather in the ring...but once Arum decided the deadline, he probably already decided to go ahead with the Margarito bout.

Pac and his team want to make sure JMM is at least 38 before they face him again!

    :good

The smart move is for JMM to make the move to TR quick, Arum is also baiting Bradley for Pac's next fight. Though he doesn't have a chance, JMM can't really afford to wait.

How about Marquez actually fight someone at 147 and win before he decides to step in with the P4P king and get killed... even if marquez takes on a stiff... fight someone... maybe like a Malignaggi, or Lovemore N'dou or Alfonso Gomez.... make people actually interested in your fight.. unless you want to simply show up and get paid and don't care to get destroyed like you did against Mayweather.....
