The Klitschkos are they ATGs? Why/Why Not?

i think to be considered ATG,they have to fight other great fighters,and or fight in exciting style or impressive gutsy style where they fought to thier full potential,they may have fought a lot of fighters.

they may have fought a lot of ranked fighters.

they might have fought a few fighters with good records,or seemingly good records.

But they have not fought and beat any prime great heavyweight,or even great boxer,such as toney,even though hes past it and not great at heavyweight compared to previous divsions.

if either beat haye or adamek in convincing fashion,maybe they could be considered.

see what lets them down is ,fair enough the divsion is bad,but truely great fighters would totally abliterate these poor opponents all the time,being exciting and gutsy.

also them losing a few times to not so great fighters de values them.

 

ATG's as in overall, or ATG's in Heavyweight?

Overall...No, but Wlad possibly still has a chance. Vitali basically no chance.
Heavyweight...I would probably rank Wlad up in the top 20, if not just outside...but as long as he keeps his impressive reign going. Adamek and Haye added to that list would be a lot more impressive.

 

Wlad is. Due to his pure dominance and litany of top ten victims.

Vitali is not due to a shallow resume which suffered from a 4 year absence.

 

Overall, no. Wlad is an ATG heavy, Vitali had the tools to be but that layoff really hurts his career.

 

Vitali is not ATG for sure, as it is based on achievements and not on hypothetical H2H comparisons. He fought stiffs a bit too long, lost to the best two opponents he faced, then took some years off. And, while making a successful comeback at 37 is an achievement in itself, it doesn't make his resume any better.

Wlad... well, although I hate his style, may become an ATG just because he is a dominant force long enough. He had some bad losses, but he improved since that and stays undefeated, fighting the best of what is left from HW (not including those who are "not ready" for him like Haye or Povetkin)

 

If Tyson is an ATG, then the Klitschko's clearly are too....

 

I hold ATG status much higher than Hall of Fame. It's the difference between Gary Carter (HOF) and Willie Mays (ATG) or Scottie Pippen (HOF) and Michael Jordan (ATG). Under that criteria, no the Klits do not approach ATG status in my book.

 

Right now, no. But I'd feel comfortable putting Wlad as a top 10-15 ATG HW if he continues his winning streak.

Vitali missed the opportunity because of the 4 year layoff. If he had the W over Lewis, then maybe we could talk. But the two combined hurt any legit discussion to be had. Shame too, I like Vitali's aggression and style.

It's like the ts say's "how can we take you serious with comments like that?
Vitali for me is the better fighter and has the stronger mentality, but Wlad eclipses him technically and has the greater punching power.
Like a lot have correctly stated on here Vitali's lay off and lack of competition really hurt his legacy, and really end any talk of him being an ATG, probably not even a HOFer. But he is more adventurous than his brother and is the true fighter of the two.
Wladimir's constant longevity sets him apart from Vitali, and the way he has turned his career around has to be respected by anyone. His career is similar to Lewis' as in pre and post Manny Steward, he now has a gameplan that is perfected, and in heavyweight terms his technique is of the highest order...although he rarely shows any variation in his work.
What affects Wlad is those terrible losses, lack of serious top level opposition and no major fights to speak off. Also it is alarming how the number one of an era can look so uncomfortable when put under pressure, and actually looks in fear of taking a serious punch.
For these reasons i still place him outside the top 20 ATGs but he is definately an hall of famer. If he continues with his winning streak and gets a win over an Haye or another major player who may come along, then there is no doubt he will be a ATG. But i don't think i ever see him in the top ten. That's my honest opinion.
