The Klitschkos are they ATGs? Why/Why Not?

What a shame that the klits weren't around in the 80s , or even the early 90s. They could have been absolute superstar villain-like characters. Can you imagine the whole, "evil Russian robot challenging America" angle? It would have been huge.

Unfortunately, nobody cares about Russia anymore. They don't even care that the Klits are Ukranian and that it's not the same thing as Russian.

Anyway, the Klits would probably do REALLY well in H2H fights against any fighter in history. I'd favor Wlad over anybody except Lewis, Foreman, and maaaayyybe Tyson, and I'd favor Vitali against anybody except Wlad, Lewis, Bowe, and Ali.

But ATG-ness is about the resume as much as talent and ability. Vitali will never be an ATG - he's out of time and he simply doesn't have the resume for it.

Wlad is a tougher call. He will never have the marquee names on his resume that he would had he fought in a strong era. He won't have the mystique of retiring undefeated in a weak era like Marciano did. He won't have a defining historical event on his side, like fighting some nazi idealized opponent, or breaking a major ethnic/racial barrier (at least not one that people care about). He'll never have that sort of glamour that pretty much every ATG can claim. But I think if he builds a record number of defenses, or a record reign he could crack the ATG heavyweight list, if nothing else. Maybe even top 10 heavyweights.

Tyson and Lewis' resumes **** all over the Klits. Only a blinkered fool could think otherwise.

 

Oh yeah.....and they've served up countless stinkfests.

 

It is clearly evident from this thread that most people on here dont know **** about boxing. Wlad is appropriately ranked in the number 15-30 in terms of ATG heavies. Vitali is ranked 30-40 in terms of ATG.

If you dont agree with this than you obviously dont know **** about boxing and I challenge anyone on here to rank 30 heavyweights above wlad all I time, I dare you.

 

The weight is irrelevent, Sander was fat when he fought WALDO. He looked fat in most of his fights if truth be told, and Larry Holmes hardly ever looked 'ripped' either. Saying Holmes was fat against Tyson when he weighed 225 is just trying to discredit Tyson being the only man to ever do that to a top 5 ATG HW when he was only 21 years old. Tyson is an ATG because of performances like that. WALDO is NOT an ATG because he fought a 37 year old that was only famous for being a Rahman victim, and he got knocked the **** out - at age 27 when he should have been prime.

A blinkered fool, or someone who calls themself a boxing fan yet only watches Klitschko fights....seems to be a lot of those on this site.

An old, disinterested, fat, mentally ill and shot to **** Tyson took Lewis's bombs for 2 more rounds than VITLAY did - and he ate a lot more of them in the process too, so don't start that **** about him being stopped 6 times, his chin was FAR better than either Klitschko.

Incidentally Tyson was so shot at that point that he picked Danny Williams as an easy warm up. The same Danny Williams that is one of VITLAYS best ever wins :nut The same Danny Williams that Audley Harrison knocked out in 3 rounds :rofl

Sanders had weighed around 210-220 in his prime, he wasn't as overweight as Holmes was but he was overweight - and he was also a million times less good atsch

Also Holmes was 38 when he faced Tyson, not 39. How many bums have the brothers fought that were over 38, and you lot have jerked off over it for weeks afterwards? In Tysons prime that was the oldest guy he fought and he was an ATG top 5 HW who'd only lost twice to disputed decisions - and to this day the only man that ever KO'd him was Mike Tyson. No way would either brother KO that version of Holmes.
