anyone who moves defensively like that has to have athletic ability. I think people are confusing a muscular build vs an average build and equating it to athletic ability do you know how many short chubby guys I Knew growing up who could play basketball, baseball and football one in particular had a cannon for an arm and how many big strong muscular Oafs who had 0 coordination? this isnt a thread about shitty bodied fighters who can fight.
Kevin Finnegan. Well tremendous might be stretching it, but he was highly skilled in a sneaky deceptive way.
Greg ****ing Haugen is the prototype of this! its what used to be called a cutey in boxing, that term has all but disappeared and for many this is first the first time your hearing it, but ask any old school hardcore fan they can tell what a cutey was in the ring: a guy with no real athletic ability, power or speed but who with intelligence, guts and guile could beat stronger faster more athletic guys by just being crafty, sneaky, and smart. Bhop, Cotto, Toney, FFS are not in this category niether are the Klitchkos if anything those turds are very athletic more so if you consider their size.
JMM is a good choice because he's not athleticly gifted, isn't very quick or strong but his skills, chin and guts make up for a lot of it. Luevano is a good choice as well, tough guy with good skills. The Klitchkos are very gifted athletically. They're strong, tall as **** and can move fairly well for HWs.
I have Marquez whole career from his 8th fight on. Before the Pac I fight, it was clear he was EXTREMELY athletic, he was beating guys down easily even though he still had a tight style, quick and with power. He's just older now. I very rarely had him losing a round before he fought Pac, and that includes his stinker fight with Freddie Norwood. He's just older at a pretty high weight class for himself now.
Lawrence Cley-bey. Gold medalist (i think) but once he went pro, he blew up in weight- still had excellant infighting though!
hagler? and i wouldn't call eddie chambers tremendous but he has decent skills even though he doesn't really resemble an athlete
