The key here is the Martin Castillo fight. Kochulito almost instantly nullified Castillo's footspeed advantage, and Gallo, similar stance & reach of Donaire, also very skilled, was completely shocked by Montiel's timing and accuracy. That destruction is probably the most underrated complete peformance between two elite fighters in the past decade. Southpaws gave Fernando his biggest problems in the past, but handled righties very well, being particularly impressive vs. boxers and boxer-punchers, and that's where this fight is very interesting, because that's exactly what Donaire brings to the table. Montiel is very, VERY hard to read and the opponent is often confused, or just never sees the counter coming. How Nonito, the rightful favorite based on handspeed, footspeed, power and size advantage plus overall skill level, will react if it's gonna be difficult to control distance and pace, is a fascinating question.

I'm apparently in the minority here, but, Donaire wins easily and this fight isn't even going to be competitive.

Donaire by either wide points victory if he plays it safe or mid to late KO if he tries to take him out after beating him down for the first half of the fight.

    Too big, fast and strong.

Montiel was on his way to a wide points loss to Hasegawa before the home run shot landed.

This is the opportunity Donaire has been waiting for since the Darchinyan victory.

I see no FEAR in Nonito leading into the fight alot of youngens might crack under pressure.Montiel got the experience and mental edge. Also power.Sunday afternoon it will be based on ability.=I think Montiel's POWER edge is enough to secure the victory.Nonito is my boy( FILOS should STOP being crabs).I believe people are understimating this kid heart.Montiel should be the favorite.Still don't understand why he is the underdog. But anyway, In my eye Montiel is the favorite and Donaire the underdog.I see an Upset hihihihihi TKO 7...HOW?straight up Boxing using angles, landing harder PUNCHES THAN CASTILLO and landing more than HASEGAWA.The defense is really my only concern at this juncture he drops his hands, he paws his jab and leaves it out there sometimes or he just flat out leaves his hand on his waist,he is open to the hook to the body and maybe the head as well.OH BOY.

    WAR NONITO

That was a hell of a fight. Wasnt Castillo the man at the weight too. Last guy to beat PBF too if i remember correctly. It was in the ams obviously.

I will have to watch that again. I havent in a year or so.
We are definitely gonna find out if Donaires the goods here. I dont buy it with the level of opposition he normally faces. Im still wondering whats behind that chin too. I have been watching some of his previous fights and i noticed that he does struggle with southpaws. Donaire likes to dabble in swithching to southpaw so i did mention that he might try to do this. However when Donaire does it he gets hit alot more which against Montiel is not a good idea.
I can not see this fight lasting very long. If it does go 12 its either gonna be a boring UD or its gonna shave a few years off somebodies career.

Are you gonna just copy and paste this in every thread??
Hasegawa is a pretty good fighter himself. Also this is the boxing game. What home run shot are you talking about. I saw a Montiel stalking with educated pressure. He wasnt swinging for the fences or anythng like that.

Hasegawa was winning :think when i saw that he was having problems landing punches on Montiel that's when i thought it's only a matter of time before he get's

KTFO.I think that montiel hasn't been hit enough and often enough in his entire career he is a clever fighter actually.

War Montiel, I've got him via KO at 3/1 doubled up with the Bradley v Alexander decision from a few weeks ago. Should make a decent coin if it comes up.
